Chapter 11 Rosemary is Sick
In the evening, Charles closed the door for his wife, who had fallen asleep with her daughter in her arms.
Lying back on the bed, Charles's phone suddenly rang.
He picked up the phone and saw that his sister-in-law Sophia had transferred twenty thousand dollars to him. Thinking of the car accident in the daytime, Charles returned the money to Sophia.
Sophia had to ask her parents for living expenses, so she didn't have any extra economic sources since she was just a junior high school student, although her family was rich. Now, Charles had ten billion dollars. How could he care about the twenty thousand dollars?
"Charles, what do you mean?" It was a message from Sophia.
Charles replied, "keep the money!"
Sophia transferred the money to Charles again and texted, "I don't want your money. You have borrowed one million dollars and signed a contract of selling yourself for ten years. You have to rely on my sister to support you in the future."
Although Charles's sister-in-law always made things difficult for him and wanted him to divorce Rosemary Brown. But when others humiliated him, she could always stand out. Therefore, Charles knew that Sophia was not a bad person. "Poverty" was the root cause of all the disasters.
Seeing that Sophia insisted on not accepting his money, he sent another message to her. "Sophia, if anything happens to you in the future, just tell me, I won't watch you being bullied."
"Humph! Don't think that you are my brother-in-law just because I treated you well. I know that you and my sister have no sexual relationship. You'd better leave her early than live in pain. Besides, when I can make money after graduation, I will help my sister raise Betty to grow up. You loser leave my sister as far as you can."
Looking at the message from Sophia, Charles smiled bitterly. Since they got married, except for last time when they were drunk and had sex, the two had no physical contact. Rosemarydidn't like him at all. In the marriage, they were like two strangers living together. The only common topic was their daughter, Betty.
Thinking of this, Charles fell asleep until dawn.
On the second morning, Charles got up early and made breakfast. Basically, he took care of the family, and Rosemary took care of the business. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been called a "househusband".
Charles had no choice but to run away from home because of his mother's death. He came to New York City to visit Rosemary's grandfather. After Rosemary's grandfather died, no one knew Charles's real identity.
Charles had been in a fit of pique and didn't contact his father. He lived in Rosemary’s home. But in reality, being a son-in-law who only took care of his child at home will be gossiped. Later, Charles figured it out and didn’t care other people’s gossips. On the contrary, he indulged himself and gave full play to the role of loser.
After the breakfast was done, Charles went to wake up Rosemary and Betty.
Betty shouted at him, "Dad! Mom is sick."
Charles rushed to the bedside and saw that Rosemary's face was pale and her hands were on her abdomen.
"What's wrong, Rose?"
"I don't know. My stomach hurts and I feel disgusted. I vomited once last night." Rosemary looked uncomfortable.
It suddenly occurred to Charles that his sister-in-law Sophia would have a rest on weekend. He hurriedly called Sophia and said, "Sophia, come here and help take care of Betty. Your sister is sick. I have to send her to the hospital right away."
The most troublesome thing for young couples who didn't live with their parents after marriage was that there was no one to take care of their children.
As soon as Sophia heard that her sister Rosemary was ill, she thought that no one would take care of Betty, so she immediately agreed and said that she would go downstairs and take a taxi.
Charles told Sophia that the key was under the doormat.
After finishing the phone call, Charles said to his daughter, "Betty, wait for me at home. I'll drive you to the kindergarten later. Dad has to take mom to the hospital right away."
"Don't worry, Dad. I'll stay at home and wait for Auntie."
Holding his daughter in his arms, he kissed Betty on the cheek and then helped Rosemary change her clothes in a hurry.
Rosemary was as beautiful as a flower. Normally, Charles wouldn't let go of such a good opportunity. But he didn't have the mood to do that now. Seeing that Rosemary was so painful that her face was sweating, he knew that he couldn't delay her treatment, so he carried Rosemary out of the door.
After going out, Charles drove straight to NYU Langone Medical Center.
Charles rushed into the hospital with Rosemary in his arms and shouted, "Doctor! Hurry up! Emergency!"
A nurse walked up to Charles and said, "Sir, this way!"
Charles followed the nurse into the emergency room with Rosemary in his arms.
After the diagnosis, the doctor said that Rosemary had acute gastroenteritis and needed an operation immediately.
When Rosemary was pushed into the operating room, Charles finally felt relieved. Unexpectedly, Rosemary Brown was fine at the family dinner yesterday. Why and how could she fell ill suddenly?
After sending Betty to the kindergarten, Sophia asked how was her sister.
Charles told Sophia that Rosemary had acute gastroenteritis and was sent to the operating room.
"Which hospital are you in? I'll be right there!"
"NYU Langone Medical Center!"
Twenty minutes later, Sophia arrived at the hospital.
As soon as Sophia arrived, Charles's parents-in-law also arrived. Needless to say, it was Sophia who informed her parents.
Diana shouted at Charles, "Charles, if anything happens to my daughter, I will not let you go."
"Mom, why are you so unreasonable? It has nothing to do with Charles. My sister has acute gastroenteritis." Sophia explained.
"Humph! You know what? A few days ago, if your sister hadn't been involved in the lawsuit between her and Courtney, how could she have such a disease? She was also hurt by Charles."
Charles didn't say anything. He held his arms and paced back and forth in the corridor. He was worried about his wife and had no spare energy to quarrel with his mother-in-law.
"Don't wander around. It annoys me!" Diana sat on the chair in the corridor impatiently.
At this time, a head nurse came over and asked Charles and others, "Sir, a single ward has just been spared. Do you want it?"
"Yes, yes, yes!" Said Diana.
"Okay, come with me to check in."
When Charles was about to go over, Diana stood up and left with the head nurse.
Soon, Diana came back in a huff. She said angrily, "This hospital is too blatant."
"What's wrong, mom?" Sophia asked.
Diana said, "The head nurse just now said clearly that she had spared us an single ward. She received a call from a director, saying that the single ward was booked out. Isn't she playing tricks on us?"
Daniel who had been silent all the time, said in a deep voice, "Forget it. Hospitals always care about connections. We don't know anyone in this hospital."
