Chapter 12 Emilee Calls
Trey cursed and hung up the phone in frustration.
"I'll get someone to send a new laptop and phone over later. It's just a laptop."
"No need."
"I can buy one myself."
Kristen put away her emotions and looked down at the tip of her shoes. He didn't know what she was thinking. She was utterly quiet.
Trey frowned and looked at her, upset.
He thought Kristen would make a scene and shout hysterically.
He knew that the laptop carried all her hope.
That laptop belonged to him at first. Back then, when he wanted to throw it away, he saw her staring at it blankly, so he gave it to her.
He bought the crappy laptop from some unknown mall randomly. However, she treated it like a treasure. She had been using it for four years, and she even got it repaired twice.
Neither of them spoke again.
He drove to his villa.
He was usually busy with work, and before the plagiarism incident, Kristen spent most of her time in school.
Therefore, although the members of the Barrett family were harsh to her, they managed to live.
Yet there came the plagiarism incident. Also, Alfred was sick and had been recuperating outside. Therefore, the members of the Barrett family began to want to drive Kristen away even more.
After returning to the villa, Trey could not help but say, "I am free in the afternoon. I can take you to buy a laptop and a phone for you."
He thought that by shopping with her, he could put an end to what had happened in the previous month. Everything could be considered forgotten after that.
Trey thought he was nice enough to Kristen.
"I said I would buy one myself.
"I just want to divorce."
Kristen looked indifferent and calm.
Trey sneered coldly, "So what if I let you go after the divorce? Do you really think anyone would dare accept the woman I've played with?"
"That's my business. I just want a divorce. I don't want anything else."
"Kristen, you..."
Trey's phone rang. It was a popular song from a few years ago.
It was Emilee's favorite song when they were in high school.
Trey raised his eyebrows and glanced at Kristen. He picked up Emilee's call in front of Kristen.
"Hey, darling."
Trey spoke voluntarily in a sweet tone while keeping looking at Kristen out of the corner of his eye.
Emilee, who was still abroad, was stunned. Then she was excited. "Trey, do you miss me?"
"Yes.
"I miss you."
Trey was no longer cold.
Emilee was in a better mood, and the corners of her mouth curled up.
She thought, finally, Trey changed his mind!
I knew it. He likes me the best. After all, I'm his first love. Kristen, that bitch, is nothing.
"Well, I accidentally saw the domestic news today about Kristen's plagiarism. It seemed that her awards were canceled, and her trophies were taken back.
"I know her teacher very well. Her teacher no longer wants her and asks her to drop out!"
Emilee deliberately said with regret and helplessness.
Yet in fact, Emilee was the thief, and the righteous thief no less.
Trey subconsciously glanced at Kristen.
Kristen turned around and poured a cup of water. She took the snacks on the table, opened a bag of snacks, and ate a little. It seemed that she did not hear the voice on the phone at all.
She was really hungry.
Kristen didn't want to starve to death, so there was nothing for her to worry about.
Trey frowned. He really thought that Kristen did not hear it, so he just pressed the speaker directly.
