Harlyn “Why are you still laying down there?” His voice got me out of bed. He sounded harsh which was shocking. Why was he shouting at me after what happened last night and a while ago? “My king,” “Get dressed and get out of my room,” He yelled. He was angry but I couldn’t tell why. “But my king,” I tried to protest. “Don’t call me. I want you out of my room right now. And forget everything that happened here last night and this morning,” he warned me. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. He slept with me, took my virginity, marked me as his, and now he wanted me to go away and forget any of it happened. How will I ever be able to do that? “But my king, last night, you.” I let out and had to stop talking because I was almost in tears. This wasn’t what I thought would happen. He was supposed to tell me I was his mate and tell me that he accepted me and wanted me to be his forever. That was the whole point of the mark. His mark that I now carried on my body. That I will carry forever because it never fades away. “What happened last night was a mistake. I got carried away and accidentally marked you. Did you really think I would accept you as my mate? You are nothing,” I felt a sharp pain in my heart at his words. I felt like I was going to die. Not just me, my wolf felt hurt too. The rejection hit us so hard that I fell to my knees in front of him. I couldn’t believe this was happening to me just when I thought my life was finally going to be better. “You can’t say that to me after the night we shared. You marked me. I carry your mark now, my king,” I yelled out, showing him the place where he had marked, not like he had forgotten. It happened last night. “That wasn’t supposed to happen. That doesn’t mean anything as long as I don’t accept you and I won’t accept you. You don’t fit in my world. Get dressed and get out of my room. Go back to your place as the maid and continue your life, forget this ever happened or I will be forced to banish you from the pack,” He threatened. I couldn’t believe my ear. It felt like a nightmare and I wanted to wake up so bad. How could he change so much when just a few minutes ago he was thrusting inside me without protection? He fucked me all through the night without protection and now he wanted me to go back to be a slave and forget everything happened. I realized what had happened. He used me, he used me as his sex slave last night and I stupidly thought he would accept me. How foolish I had been. “Let me make this clear, I, Benardo Albertino, alpha and king of the crimson moon pack, reject you, Harlyn, as my mate and I hereby declare that you return to your post or face being punished.” By the time he finished talking the tears following from my eyes were uncontrollable. As I didn’t want him to call the guard to drag me out of his chamber, I got up, gathered my clothes, and put them on. I could barely see through the tears. I didn’t look at the king again as I exited his chamber. I wiped my eyes and walked away from his chamber. I walked blindly all the way to the workers' lounge and straight to my small room. I opened the door and walked inside, closing the door behind me. I fell to the floor as the tears I had been holding since I left the king’s room came in full force. I replayed everything that happened last night in my mind and I had given myself to him over and over again last night and this morning because I thought he was going to accept me after he marked me. How wrong I was. “Ah, aha, Aha,” I cried in pain. It was the most painful experience of my whole life. How did he expect me to go back to working in the palace like nothing happened? Like he didn’t mark me as his? Now I couldn’t even find anyone else because I already carried his mark even though he rejected me. The only person I could be with now is a human who knew nothing about my world and I didn’t see that happening. I couldn’t even leave the pack. How am I ever going to find a human who would love me? I didn’t want anyone else either. I sat on the floor, crying so hard but I couldn’t even mourn for long because a knock came on my door and I was told that Princess Sophie was asking for me. Great, last night, I thought I was finally going to be free from her but joke on me. I was never going to be free after all. My mate didn’t want me and he told me to forget everything that happened between us. I got off the floor, wiped my eyes, and changed my clothes. I couldn’t go and see her in the clothes I had yesterday, she would know something was up and the last thing I wanted was for her to know what happened as she would only mock me even more. I splashed water on my face and used my powder to brighten my face and hide the evidence of my tears. Since I still had the king’s love bites all over my body. I wore a dress that covered me up. I looked at myself in the mirror and felt pity for how I looked. My wolf didn’t even make an appearance after I left the king’s room. She was too heartbroken to even say anything to me. Wallowing in self-misery, I made my way to the princess's chamber, hoping that for once, she would not be a bitch. The minute I entered her room and saw Ava there I just knew that the worst was going to happen. “Look who finally decided to show up,” It was Ava that spoke and she had the meanest look on her face. I bowed politely. “You asked to see me, my princess,” I said. “Yes, I did and you took your sweet time getting here? You kept me waiting, what were you up to?” She questioned. I was tempted to tell her what I had been up to but the king had warned me and I didn’t want to be banished from the pack or sent out of the palace as I had nowhere to go. Aside from the orphanage which was also run by the palace, I didn’t know anywhere else. So, I had to forget what happened last night and move on like it never did if I was going to stay in the palace and the pack.
