Chapter 2

Harlyn “Your Highness,” I managed to say. He looked at me, maybe trying to figure out who I was. I couldn’t say anything else as his hazel eyes searched mine. I was drowning in those eyes. He was beautiful. I knew this was the only time I would ever be this close to him so I let my eyes wander around his handsome face. Taking every feature of his godlike face in and marveling at how someone could be so beautiful. “Harlyn? Are you there? Hey?” I came back from the trance his heavenly face had sent me to and heard him calling out my name. He knew my name. “Your Highness,” I managed to say. He finally let me go and I put a distance between us to enable me to think. “You called for me,” I said while bowing down. my hands were shaking. This was the closest I had ever been to the king. “I called you hours ago, why are you just showing up?” I felt the fear rise in me as he spoke. “I, I, I am sorry my king, I was doing other chores,” “What chores are more important than coming to see me?” He fired at me. Not angrily but firm enough for me to shake in fear. I couldn’t tell him that it was his stepsister who kept me waiting, that would only get me in trouble with Princess Sophie who wouldn’t hesitate to hit me when I get on her nerves even when I do nothing, she still hits me. She was the worst. She and her best friend Ava, were my major enemies in the pack. They made fun of me and made me do things for them that were humiliating for me. Their way of having fun always involved me getting hurt and there was nothing I could do. I couldn’t fight the princess nor could I fight Ava who was the daughter of an influential family in the pack. Ava always talked about marrying the king and making me a slave as if I wasn’t already a slave to them. They knew I had a crush on the king because Sophie had found my diary and read it out loud to Ava and they both mocked me. Telling me what I already know, that the king will never look at me. Ava even goes as far as telling me how the king fucks her and treats her after. Sometimes, I get so jealous and cry myself to sleep but most times, I just tell myself that I won’t ever have the king so why should I be sad? “You haven’t answered my question,” The alpha let out. I looked up at him and quickly looked down in fear. “I am sorry my king, it will not happen again,” I promised. Hoping that he would let me off just this once. I didn’t want to get punished. “Let’s go inside,” He said and started walking towards his chamber. I stood there wondering why the king would invite me into his chamber. “Aren’t you coming?” He called out. I couldn’t say no. He was the alpha king, saying no to him would lead to me getting banished from the pack and I already knew I wouldn’t be able to survive outside the pack. I didn’t know how to deal with humans and wasn't a werewolf enough to be accepted by a new pack. I was stuck in the Crimson moon pack and the best I could do for myself is behave so that I don’t get sent away. I walked up to the king who waited for me to get to him before he started walking again. The guard who I spoke to before greeted the king and the king instructed that no one disturb him. I didn’t know what was going to happen but I was scared out of my mind thinking I did something wrong that I didn’t know of and was reported to him which was why he asked for me and now he was going to punish me by himself. “Come on in,” He said as we got to his room. He opened the door and I walked in first. He followed behind me and closed the door, making sure to lock it. My heart skipped a beat when he locked the door. I looked at his huge room that could easily accommodate a family of six. He walked ahead of me, taking off his robe. I stood there not knowing what was going to happen and what he was going to do to me. “Come on,” He instructed and I had no choice but to obey. He took off his shirt and I was blessed with the sight of his manly body with abs and muscles. If I wasn’t so consumed by fear, I would have been ogling. “Don’t look so scared, I don’t want to hurt you,” He said but I refused to believe it. He had a predatory look in his eyes. Like he was ready to kill his prey and I was the prey. The fear wasn’t going anywhere and there was something else. Heat was building inside me as I took in his broad shoulders and lean waist. He walked towards me and stood behind me, so close that I could feel his body heat and that made me even more hot. Now I had a different fear. He placed his hands on my shoulders and put his mouth closed to my ears. I could barely breathe at this point and my legs were close to giving way. “I have wanted to see you up close ever since I saw you three weeks ago,” He whispered in my ears, I felt a thrilling sensation run through my body as he spoke in my ear. He was saying some things that were hard to believe. He wanted to see me? He has been thinking about me for three whole weeks. I didn’t even know he saw me. “My king,” I breathed when he kissed my ear. It was clear what he wanted from me and I was scared that I was going to give in so easily. He had so much power over me that just his lips close to my ears was making me feel things I never felt before. I was twenty-six but I have never had a sexual encounter with anyone. Not because I was keeping myself for anyone but because I have never found someone that I want to touch me in such an intimate way. The only person I ever thought of was the king and right now, he was licking my ears and whispering things I couldn’t make out. it was just crazy and felt like I was dreaming. He turned me around to face him and I saw the desire in his eyes. The king wanted me, I never once thought that it would ever be possible for the alpha king of the crimson moon pack. The biggest and strongest pack in the world would want me, a lonely wolf-less orphan who was more like a slave in the pack. It was hard to believe but the desire in his eyes was undeniable. “I saw you that day and knew I had to have you, I waited three whole weeks for it to pass but it never did, I haven’t desired someone so much the way I desire you, Harlyn, you bewitched me,” He told me, his lips hovering over mine.
