Chapter 8 Two Million
That evening, upon his return to Galaxy Bay, Chen Song handed sixty thousand yuan to his parents. They were taken aback and kept questioning if something was amiss.
"Don't fret, everything is fine. This sum of money is insignificant. Now that your son is capable, just enjoy yourselves."
Observing Chen Song's confident demeanor, the elderly couple reluctantly accepted the money.
"Just spend it, don't bother saving it on my behalf," Chen Song advised.
The following day, Chen Song visited the hospital to see Xiaoxiao before heading straight to Hua Tuo Medical Hall.
"Entering through the back entrance as a janitor, are you unaware of the rules or simply foolish to come in this way?" The stern security guard at the gate scowled.
Taken aback, Chen Song glanced at his attire. Though modest, it was still presentable. Could he truly be mistaken for a janitor?
"I apologize, I'm here for the auction, not to clean," Chen Song calmly stated, proceeding to walk inside.
This time, the security guard obstructed his path, haughtily remarking, "Do you realize where you are? The items up for auction today are worth at least hundreds of thousands. You, a pauper, are attempting to sneak in and pilfer something, scram! Leave this place, or I won't be courteous!"
Just then, Ding Baosan's voice intervened, "Halt, you scoundrel. My benefactor, Ding Baosan, is not someone you can impede!"
"Master Ding, oh, you're here, please come in, please come in." The security guard didn't even acknowledge Chen Song, but instead fawned over Ding Baosan.
"Chen Ge, as long as you give the word, this security guard can vanish from this world instantly." Ding Baosan's eyes exuded a lethal intent, devoid of jest.
The security guard was momentarily stunned, quickly comprehended, and broke out in a cold sweat, his legs quivering like leaves, involuntarily weakening, and tremulously uttered, "D...Ding Master, I erred, I erred."
"Where did you err?" Ding Baosan coldly inquired.
"I...I underestimated people with dog eyes, I am not human, I am not even as good as a dog. Master Ding, spare me, Master Chen, spare me!" After his plea, the security guard knelt on the ground, imploring for mercy.
Observing Ding Baosan still gazing at him, Chen Song patted his back and remarked, "Let it go, let it go, since he claims to be a dog, we naturally can't argue with a dog."
He gestured to proceed inside.
As the duo entered the auction hall of Hua Tuo Medical Hall, they overheard a voice.
"Oh, isn't this Ding Baosan? Is your father still alive? I heard you discovered some sort of divine doctor, could it be this fool beside you? Like attracts like, fools find fools."
The individual spoke with extreme arrogance, prompting the group of people beside him to erupt in laughter.
"Wang Biao, mind your language!"
Ding Baosan and his entourage stood up without backing down.
In Jiangcheng, it is common knowledge that Wang Biao and Ding Sanbao are arch rivals, evenly matched and unable to coexist. Previously, Wang Biao would never have been so audacious, but this time he dared due to a specific reason.
He had a formidable man by his side, a man even Chen Song had to take a second glance at. This man was not young, with a dark complexion and clad in a dark Zhongshan suit, his physique appearing as though forged from steel, clearly displaying his exceptional abilities.
After a few minutes of confrontation between the two groups, they eventually settled into separate seating arrangements under the guidance of the auction house's hostess.
"Chen Ge, I apologize for inconveniencing you today," Ding Sanbao expressed.
Chen Song displayed a nonchalant expression. He had grown accustomed to verbal assaults, able to overlook them as long as they were not excessive.
The auction commenced, showcasing some rare herbs, but they held little value for Chen Song.
"Up next for bidding is the prized possession of our Hua Tuo Medical Hall, crafted from the relic of a revered monk. Wearing it not only heals ailments but also repels malevolent spirits."
The host unveiled a blue box, revealing a crystal-clear oval-shaped stone with a radiant sheen. It was clearly no ordinary item, with an air of mystique surrounding it.
Donning this monk's relic would offer protection against illnesses and calamities.
"Starting bid at five hundred thousand."
"I bid one million." A familiar voice chimed in.
Chen Song turned to see Yuan Kuer also in attendance, unaware of his presence.
"One hundred and ten thousand," Chen Song calmly stated.
Upon realizing it was Chen Song bidding, Yuan Ke'er burst into laughter, remarking to the host, "It's absurd that your Huatuo Medical Hall's security is so lax, allowing a beggar to participate in the auction."
The host glanced at Chen Song, casting doubt on his identity. However, Ding Baosan, who had been seated beside Chen Song, was nowhere to be found.
"What? Does Huatuo Medical Hall lack confidence in its security?" Chen Song raised an eyebrow.
"Chen Song, give up. Even ten thousand is beyond your means," Yuan Ke'er taunted, calling for security to remove him.
The onlookers sneered at Chen Song's appearance.
"Huatuo Medical Hall has made a grave error! How can we, distinguished individuals, compete with someone of such low status?"
"This is an exclusive auction, not open to just anyone!"
The atmosphere grew tense and chaotic.
Unfazed by their superficial judgments, Chen Song vowed to prove his worth.
The host approached Chen Song discreetly, "Sir, this is an upscale auction. The item you bid on exceeded one million. Do you possess the necessary funds? Otherwise, Huatuo Medical Hall will take action, please cooperate."
Silently, Chen Song produced a black and gold card from his pocket.
"Isn't that the prestigious black and gold card from Jiangcheng Bank?" someone exclaimed. "There are only a few in the entire city!"
"How does he have such a card?" another pondered.
"Is that card truly yours? Or did you find or steal it?" Even the host was taken aback by the card.
Chen Song then presented an ID card: "We can verify if you doubt its authenticity."
After a quick scan, the crowd awaited the results anxiously.
"Chen Song, esteemed client of Jiangcheng Bank, with twenty million in the account."
Some attendees felt uneasy, unable to match such a sum.
One person particularly shocked by this revelation was Yuan Ke'er.
