Chapter 6 He Celebrated His First Love’s Birthday
"Daniel, ask Mr. Dooley to draft a divorce agreement in the coming days," Zachary instructed his assistant.
"Okay, Mr. Malone. There is something you may have forgotten. You forgot to take the birthday gift you prepared for Mrs. Malone out of the car yesterday." Daniel Cox reminded him respectfully.
"Oh. Just throw it away. She doesn't need it anymore."
Sending her gifts that had expired was meaningless.
Daniel remained silent.
How could such a valuable gift be discarded so easily?
Late at night, Nina lay in bed for a long time and was unable to sleep.
"Baby, what should I do?" Her eyes welled up with tears once again.
Being pregnant had made her sensitive, and now, with the talk of divorce with Zachary, she was so upset that she found it hard to breathe.
Ding... A WhatsApp message appeared on her phone.
'Nina, have you completed your procedures for going abroad?' Amos Moa sent her a message.
Amos had grown up with her and was also her college classmate. Their relationship had always been good. If she hadn't married Zachary, she might have married Amos.
'Well... I'm still working on it,' Nina replied. She had excellent grades, and her name was on the list of students going abroad for further studies.
Although she had this opportunity, she couldn't bear to leave Zachary. She had initially considered giving it up, but now it seemed like a good opportunity.
...
A week later, Zachary returned from his business trip. His return coincided with Sophie's birthday.
Sophie posted on her social media and specifically reminded Nina to take a look.
In the photo, Zachary gently placed a crown on Sophie's head while looking at her affectionately.
He didn't remember Nina's birthday, but he had specially flown back from abroad to celebrate Sophie's birthday. In Zachary's heart, it was clear at a glance who was more important between her and Sophie.
Nina felt a pang in her heart. Zachary had returned, and they should proceed with the divorce.
'Nina, Zach came back today to celebrate my birthday. Do you want to know what wish I made?' Sophie messaged her.
'Wishes won't come true if you say them out loud, so you better not say it,' Nina replied.
Nina knew what wish Sophie had made, but she didn't want to hear it. It would be too painful. Her wish would definitely come true.
'Mr. Malone, let's go to the city hall tomorrow to handle the procedures.' Nina messaged Zachary.
Zachary did not reply.
About half an hour later, Zachary arrived at Jade Garden.
"Mr. Malone, why are you here?"
Nina was very surprised. Wasn't he supposed to be celebrating Sophie's birthday?
Zachary had been drinking in the evening, and a faint smell of alcohol could still be detected on his breath.
"Nina, run me a bath. I want to take a shower." Zachary furrowed his brow, and he seemed uncomfortable.
They were about to divorce. Was it appropriate for him to come looking for her so late at night?
"Don't we have a maid at home?" Nina ran him a bath and helped him undress. She had already gotten used to doing these things for him.
"I can only sleep well with you around."
Nina was speechless.
So, she could still do this.
"Grandma said she hasn't seen you in a long time. Let's go back to the Malone Residence together tomorrow," Zachary said as he took off his clothes.
"Should we tell Grandma about our divorce?" Nina asked.
He hesitated for a moment before saying, "Let's not tell her right now. Grandma is not in good health, and I'm afraid she will be upset."
"All right. You go take a shower, and I'll make the bed.”
Given that they were in the process of getting a divorce, it was not appropriate for them to share the same bed.
