Chapter 3 Pregnant
Zachary was slightly stunned. Nina had never spoken to him loudly before, and she had always had a good temper.
"Nina, I will give you enough reward. You will never have to worry about food and clothing in your whole life. Even if we divorce, we can still be friends. If you have any difficulties, I will help you."
Nina smiled slightly. "Thank you."
Did he know that what she really wanted was not money?
"Nina, your complexion doesn't look good. Let me help you upstairs to rest." Zachary said as he reached out to support her.
"No need. I can go upstairs by myself." She pushed his hand, holding her waist away.
"Your complexion is so bad. Why pretend to be strong? Have you not been eating well these days when I was not around?" Zachary hugged her slender waist and felt she had become even thinner.
Nina went upstairs to pack her things. Over the years, he had given her many things, but she had never accepted any of them.
He watched her squatting on the ground while packing her clothes. Her back was thin but exceptionally resilient.
Nina wasn't sure if she had been squatting for too long, but when she stood up, she felt dizzy and then fell unconsciously.
She woke up again in the hospital, with the doctor just finishing giving her an intravenous injection.
Her body was too thin. The capillaries on the back of her hand were too fine to see clearly, and there were bruises on the back of both hands from being pricked.
"Nina, your hand is bleeding. Press it with a cotton swab."
River Silvan handed her a cotton swab.
Nina grabbed his hand but accidentally rolled off the bed.
"River, do me a favor. Get me some contraceptive pills. I can't get pregnant!" She was supposed to buy the pills in the morning, but she suddenly fainted. The pills had to be taken within 24 hours after the incident, or they would be useless.
"Nina, I regret to inform you that you are already pregnant." River looked at the weak woman on the sick bed. Whether it was because of the pregnancy or not, her body was thinner than before, and her big eyes looked even more pitiful on her palm-sized face.
"What?!" Nina's face turned pale, her lips turned blue, and her big eyes stared at him blankly.
Although Zachary had never liked using protection, she had always been careful. It was only that one time when Zachary was drunk and forced her...
"River, I'm going to divorce Zachary. I can't keep this child." Her eyes were teary as she gently touched her abdomen, even though she couldn't feel anything now.
Her baby came at such an inconvenient time...
"Is it because of Sophie?"
"Yes." Nina nodded slightly.
"Nina, your physical condition is not very good. It's already difficult for you to conceive with a thin uterine wall and dysmenorrhea. After the abortion, you may not be able to conceive again. Are you sure you have thought it through?"
Nina's lips moved a few times, but she couldn't speak.
"Take care of your body first. Then, you can decide when you have thought it through."
"River, please don't tell Zachary about my pregnancy for now." If Zachary found out, he would probably make her abort the baby.
"Okay."
Soon after, Zachary came in and touched Nina's forehead gently.
"Is there anything wrong?" he asked softly.
His gentle and caring manner made her feel like crying instantly, and her big eyes misted up.
"What's wrong?" Zachary asked, but she couldn't say anything. She turned away while sobbing quietly. She did not let him see her vulnerability.
She was pregnant with his child, but they were on the brink of divorce. What was she going to do with their child?
