Chapter 3
Alpha Trent POV
“Do you think she'll be fine?” I asked Amelia for the umpteenth time as she hung an IV drip for the young girl.
“Yes, Alpha Trent, she'll be fine.” Amelia assured me.
I took one of the fluids and stretched it towards Amelia. “She'll be needing more?”
Amelia shook her head and chuckled. The girl muttered something and I immediately turn my attention towards her. Amelia grabbed my hand and dragged me outside.
I yanked my hand free from her as we got out. “What do you think you're doing?” I frowned.
“We're disturbing her sleep. Let the girl rest Alpha Trent, she'll be fine.” Amelia uttered.
“Are you sure? She seems weak, you know I had to carry her into the car, she was unconscious the whole time.” I explained.
“What happened to her?”
“She wanted to get some Jade necklace given to her by her mother. I saw Raveena and her mother beat her up, she just stayed put, doing nothing to defend herself.” I narrated, angrily.
“Well it's only right that you were there to save her, she's sustained some internal injuries but she's healing herself. What's her name?”
“I don't know but I'll call her little lamb.”
Ariel laughed at me. “Because she looks tender and innocent?”
I shot her a deadly look.
“I'll be back to check up on her, take good care of her.” Amelia informed and walked away.
I went back into the room and sat by her bedside. She looked peaceful while sleeping and her hands was brittle.
‘Oh little lamb, I'm sorry I let you go all by yourself.’ I apologized, gently caressing her hair. She groaned softly and I chuckled, I stayed beside her until nightfall, massaging her foot.
Amelia came over and convinced me to get some rest since I was also exhausted. “Your wounds are barely fully healed, I'll look after her.”
I concurred and went to room and got some sleep, I woke up the next morning to see a message from Kyle, my trusted gamma. I frowned going through the contents, my wolf stirred angrily seeing evidence of the little lamb’s maltreatment and how her pack was razed down years back.
‘I’ll avenge you.’ I swore vehemently under my breathe.
I cleaned up and went to see my little lamb and she was in a better shape, Amelia did a good job cleaning her up because she looked healthier.
“You're awake.” I said, smiling.
She was surprised to see me and my eyes fell in the untouched tray of food on her bed and I frowned slightly.
“Is the food not to your taste?” I asked, curiously.
She shook her head. “I'm not hungry.”
Her stomach growled almost immediately and she was embarrassed, I wondered why she would lie, was she feeling insecure around us?
“Your stomach says otherwise.” I joked and she pursed her lips.
“Thank you for saving my life.” She muttered.
“I went through a lot of trouble to save you but you're willing to thwart it by starving yourself to death?” I asked.
I picked up a fork and began eating the food, savoring the taste to show her that nothing was wrong the food. Reluctantly, she tried eating as well but her hands shook and the fork fell.
She looked at me apologetically and I smiled, I scooped a decent amount of food and pointed it at her mouth, gesturing for her to open up.
She was hesitant at first but I gently nudged her, shyly; she began eating and I fed her until she couldn't eat anymore. My heart shattered into pieces seeing how she had been maltreated.
I had to attend to some important meeting so I left her in Amelia's care. When I returned, I bought some fruits and snacks for her. Amelia took good care of her as well and this routine continued for two weeks.
“Thank you for your kindness.” Ariel thanked me for the umpteenth time as we took a stroll in the garden.
I chuckled softly. “You don't need to keep saying that Little Lamb.”
“My name is Ariel.” She reminded me.
“I know, but I'll call you little lamb.”
She got in front of me and I halted.“Because I'm weak and small?”
I patted her head lovingly. “Because your eyes speaks of your innocence and courage.”
Her eyes lit up with pride, I could see that she was emotional.
“I need to leave, someday, I'll repay you.” She announced.
“Where will you go to?” I asked, curiously.
“I don't know yet, I'll figure it out.” She shrugged.
I pinched the bridge of her nose and laughed softly. “Until then, you'll stay with me little lamb, you go nowhere.”
She was about to retort when one of my men rushed towards us, panting.
“Alpha, your attention is needed.” He informed me, hastily.
“What is it?” I asked, displeased that he interrupted my alone time with Ariel.
“The council of elders.” He related, coded.
