Chapter 4 Unspoken Consequences

Watery sounds filled the space between Jacobs and Lucy. "Mate." Jacobs groaned. He was in no hurry, and his thighs danced around her as her legs calmly vibrated until breath turned into gasps and the night into silence. "Good morning, sunshine," He said, having his head resting on his right hand while staring at her waking eyes. Immediately, she felt his strong scent and knowing he was a werewolf, her mood changed. "Go away, I'm not your sunshine." She chided playfully. "You are. Even your name means light. That's enough to make me believe." "This was not your first time but it was my first. You won't know how I feel. You tricked me into drinking just to have me for the night." She sat upright, feeling disappointed in herself. "That's not true. And yes, it's not my first time as you have guessed it right, but believe me it felt different. There is something about you..." "Men! I don't want to hear a word from you again. I just wanted us to talk but you took advantage because you knew I was somehow into you." "Really? You are? C'mon I didn't mean to take advantage..." "Let's forget this happened last night. I don't want to be this close to you again. Just know whatever feelings I have for you, it is all gone. Excuse me, I have to go now before it's too late." "Enough of the attitude, Lucy. You know I was paying attention to your words last night and believe me you taught me a lot I am grateful for. What happened last night did because I felt something for you too... Please wait. let me take you home." Jacobs jumped out of bed to catch up but she had already dressed whilst he was talking. "You don't have to. I know my way home. And please don't come to the restaurant again. I will embarrass you if I ever see you around." Lucy worked throughout the day without saying a word to anybody — not even her favourite colleague, Andrew. She kept battling with the memories of Jacobs sleeping with her and the feelings of regret because she found out that he was a werewolf too late. Lucy tried to forget about that long night with him but each time she looked out the window to see the resort, she could not help but see Jacobs' face in her imaginations. "May I?" Andrew asked politely, requesting to share a seat with her. "You may. I know you won't leave if I should refuse." "Ever since you returned from seeing that guy, you have not been yourself. It's been two weeks now and you know I can't help but still care." "Andrew, thank you for caring. I am alright." Lucy replied coldly, throwing her face out the window. "Don't lie to me. Your birthday is in two days, Lucy. This is unlike you. No trace of excitement." "Andrew, I am turning eighteen, you don't expect me to behave like a child." She looked at him, her brows curved, looking disturbed. "No. But then, I think visiting the restroom frequently and assuming I won't know what is going on looks childish. C'mon, talk to me. I observed that you have been throwing up." Andrew persisted. "I don't know what to say. I am fine." She sputtered. "I see you don't want to talk. In my opinion, please see a doctor." He finished and left quietly. The soft light of dawn crept through the thin curtains, revealing Lucy’s face as she stirred beneath the sheets. Her body was heavy with an exhaustion that made no sense. She wanted to get up so badly but her mind kept whispering a hundred reasons to stay in bed — just five more minutes, maybe ten. [Vibrations] "Hello" She said yawning the minute she swiped her phone screen. "Lucy, where are you?" "Aahm, in my apartment." "I want you to come over to my house today. I and your mom have decided to throw a party for you." "A party?" Her eyebrows lifted in sync. No idea why her stepfather will call this early. "For your birthday of course. Your mom insists. Be here at 6:00 p.m. don't be late." He dropped the call. It was her eighteenth birthday today. She sluggishly got out of bed and went for a shower. ...why am I this tired?... She questioned in herself and suddenly Andrews voice rang in her head. "Please see a doctor." After a few minutes spent before her mirror, she left the house, on her way to a hospital nearby. "Lucy right?" A nurse's voice rang in her ears, bringing her out of her thoughts. "Right." And with a smile she said, "The doctor will see you now." - Lucy froze, her eyes going wide as her mouth dropped open, "Wait, what?" She whispered, blinking rapidly, like she expected different words from the doctor. But he announced again, "You are pregnant, Lucy. You should be excited about it. Or are you not?" His head slightly tilted, searching for answers in her silence. "I-I am." She nodded and picked up the result he kept on the table before her, "Please, I would like to be excused." "It's fine. I'll be here if you need me." The doctor permitted, still observing as she took her leave. Lucy remained curled up on her bed for hours until her stepfather called again. "I am on my way Mr. Hong." "Hurry up, you are not so special to be keeping us waiting!" He scolded before ending the call. Lucy hissed, rising up from bed without enthusiasm, and then she left her apartment again. And when she arrived her stepfather's place, it took a while before she knocked on the door. Her face drained of color as if burdened by thoughts she couldn't shake off, she greeted, "Good evening mom." "There's nothing good about this evening. Are you coming in or what?" Her mother snapped, leaving the door opened. They had not seen each other for a month now and it feels like they never should see each other again either. Her mom hated her, and she was bored by her mom's presence. "There you are. The long awaited birthday girl. Happy birthday, Lucy." Her stepfather exclaimed with arms opened wide to embrace her. "Thanks Mr. Hong." "C'mon darling, we have to make this quick. You know we have somewhere else to be in an hour." "Yes, yes, sweetheart. The ceremony can wait." Mr. Hong said and turning to Lucy, he said, "have a seat. Let me get the cake from the refrigerator." Lucy sat down quietly and for a while her mom kept staring until her heart was full, "You're eighteen yet no changes. Same sad face." "Thanks mom." She whispered, voice barely audible, hands trembling at her sides, knowing what her mom is capable of if she finds out she is pregnant. ...I will never let her know of this baby. I will raise this child secretly... her inner voice spoke loudly.
