Chapter 1 Mate And Mistress
Sibyl
On our third wedding anniversary, my soulmate brought a mistress into the pack.
"Sibyl, Daisy is my wife now, from this moment on she is going to live with me," Edwin introduced us, his arm curled around a small beautiful she-wolf with a fragile figure and an innocent face that was nervously clinging to my soulmate's arm.
The bouquet of flowers slipped from my hand, I felt as if I had been struck by lightning.
"What did you just say?" I stared at him in disbelief. This had to be a joke, an absurd one that I refused to laugh at but the rings on both of their fingers, the romantic energy surrounding them, did not give me a different impression.
“You heard me, Sibyl,” Edwin quietly remarked. “She is my wife and…”
“Then who am I?” I demanded.
He stared at me blankly for a couple of seconds. “Of course, you are my soulmate, Sibyl. You are my love and my Luna but Daisy is also going to be living with us. Take care of her…”
“NONSENSE!” I growled, cutting him off. “You dare marry another woman then bring her here to our home for me to take care of her?! What do you think I am, Edwin?! We are soulmates. There is no place for a third person in this relationship. So how the hell are you…”
“Sibyl, I can explain everything to you,” Edwin grabbed me by the arms. “I have a reason for doing this…”
“I refuse,” I declared, breaking out of his grasp. “I refuse to accept any of your reasons or this woman, Edwin.” I had been decorating the packhouse since I had woken up that morning, making his favorite meal and preparing a gift but what he returned to me with was his new wife.
Edwin looked helplessly at my red eyes and flushed cheeks, "Sibyl…” he took a step towards me trying to touch my cheek but Daisy jumped on his arm shaking.
"Goddess! Edwin, is she blind?" Daisy suddenly exclaimed, her wide eyes fixated on my black glasses, which I had been wearing, her words trampling on my dignity. "A blind Luna?”
I was Luna of the Lunar Eclipse Pack, Sibyl Hall. Four years ago, I had lost my sight during a war between my old pack and a group of rogues. My eyes were so severely damaged that even my life had been at risk. Thankfully, I was saved yet my human eyes had been rendered completely blind.
My wolf struggled relentlessly to heal our eyesight in angry frustration. Eventually, I managed to regain my sight in my wolf form, but in a way I never imagined. My eyes turned completely white like a ghost, frightening people. Even werewolves used to freak out at the sight of my eyes. Only I knew how many times I had wanted to gouge my eyes out after I had become a living monster to my own people, but I had failed every time. From that day forward, I began wearing sunglasses, hoping to make my life less painful. Apparently it had only been the first stage of my suffering. Now, I faced the stage where my soulmate, my first love, had brought another woman into our relationship.
“I am scared, Alpha,” she timidly clung to Edwin, her eyes fearfully avoiding me.
“There is nothing to be afraid of, Daisy. Sibyl is my soulmate. I am here for you,” he did not push her away. Instead he held her lovingly right in front of my eyes, their close proximity caused my heart to bleed.
“But she hates me…” she whispered, leaning into his chest.
I completely lost control of my wolf and I violently shoved her away from Edwin, “Don’t touch my mate!!” I screamed at the top of my lungs.
“AHH…” Daisy cried out as she fell to the floor, her head bleeding.
“SIBYL!! WHAT THE FUCK YOU ARE DOING?!” Edwain angrily growled at me before running to Daisy.
“Are you alright?” He hurriedly checked her for injuries. He wiped away her tears then pulled her into a hug while I stood there heartbroken and abandoned. So, this was how everything was going to play out.
Ediwn helped her to get up from the ground as he glanced at me, “Sibyl, how could you attack Daisy? I never expected such poor behavior from you! You disappointed me.”
My mouth was slightly gaped at his remark. “Edwin… you…” I shook my head looking between two of them, “We are done, Edwin!” I barked right in his face then I turned my heel toward the packhouse.
"What?" Edwin stood there stunned. "What do you mean, we're done, Sibyl?" he yelled, but I didn't stop. "Stop right there, Sibyl!" he ordered, but I didn't care. I entered the packhouse, which shone like a new bride.
Every decoration, every candle screamed my love for Edwin, but now none of it held any meaning when my soulmate was no longer solely mine. All of his claims of love and honesty turned out to be lies. My life had never been normal to begin with. I had been raised and abandoned by horrible parents, survived among the nastiest of werewolves, then though I was rewarded by the Goddess when I met my soulmate three years ago. He came as a ray of happiness in my life. I devoted myself to him completely, I tried to overcome the past memories, and vowed to be with him for the rest of my life. It did not matter whether I was blind or...
"Sibyl!" Edwin had long left Daisy in the front yard and rushed inside the packhouse, catching me in less than 10 seconds. "Can't you hear me?" I was pulled into our bedroom where he pressed me against the wall. "Answer me!" He screamed in my face, his eyes full of anger and obsession. "What do you fucking mean we are done?"
I kept my back straight as I stared into his eyes. "It is simple, Edwin. You married another woman while I was still alive. There will never be a reason that you can give me for marrying her that will get me to believe you because I can plainly see your lust for her. You have betrayed me, Edwin!"
Having been in a relationship with him for years, I was well aware of his likes and dislikes, as well as the look in his eyes that he reserved for Daisy.
When I confronted him, the room fell into a dead silence and Edwin's expression changed. "Then who’s fault is it that I had to bring another woman into my life, Sibyl?" he asked. "It has been four years, yet you have not given me a child. What do you expect from an Alpha like me when his soulmate cannot provide him with an heir?"
My eyes widened as my heart dropped into my stomach when he poked at the most sensitive wound of my life: my infertility. During the battle against the rogues I not only lost my eyesight but my fertility as well. At the time I had sunk into a severe depression for months when I learned that I could never bear a child. Other females in the pack had babies in their arms while I was left barren.
"So, you married Daisy for an heir?" I asked, my voice trembling with shock.
He hesitated for a moment before admitting, "Yes."
I held my breath in shock, "I thought you were fine with my infertility and that I was enough for you."
"I lied," he confessed, throwing me into the pit of deception. My heart tightened upon hearing the most devastating truth of my life.
"Can there be a man in this world that doesn't want a child, Sibyl? I am no different. That's why I tried to breed you almost every day, but you did not conceive. You failed me but I did not want to break your heart. So I kept those feelings buried inside me for years," his every word made me realize the web of lies that I had been living in for years. The memories of us spending time happily together turned to lies in my mind.
"How could you..."
He grabbed my hand before I could speak. "I did not betray you. I have only married Daisy so that she can provide me with an heir. But I only love you, Sibyl, you are my only soulmate. Let's not make it into a big deal and live together happily, okay?"
I raised my hand and gave him a harsh slap across the face, "You must have lost your mind, Edwin. At this point, you're trying to tell me that you did not betray me? You're asking me to accept your mistress! You're asking me to live happily with another woman included as part of our mate bond that will be carrying your child in front of me? How dare you, Edwin! HOW DARE YOU!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs.
Edwin clenched his fists, angrily closed his eyes. "I am doing all of this for our future, Sibyl," he gritted his teeth and opened his red eyes so that they locked on mine. "You have no idea what I have gone through because of your infertility," he accused, my heart squeezing in my chest. "The Elders are questioning me, pressuring me to provide an heir or give my Alpha position to my brother. There is no way I am giving up on my dreams and future."
"So this is the state of things then..." my voice was barely above a whisper but brimming with my pain. "Your greed for your position is so high that you betrayed our mate bond! Your obsession with a child is so great that you're not bothered by having it from any womb, even if it's not mine!" I pushed him away in heartbreak.
"True, I am greedy for both my Alpha position and a child," he finally admitted brashly, his eyes emotionless.
I clenched my fists and nodded. "Alright, since you've made your choice, do me the same service. I refuse to accept your new wife or your absurd demand of living together with her. I don't want to live with a man who betrayed me. We are over."
Edwin's eyes darkened. "Nothing can be over unless I say it is, Sibyl!" He grabbed my arm tightly, causing me so much pain that I hissed.
"Let go! You're hurting me!" I struggled, but he kept tightening his grip. "I don't want to have anything to do with you now, Edwin. You chose Daisy over me!"
"This is my territory, I will be the only Alpha ruling here. I have told you that Daisy is going to live with us and carry my baby, that's final," he declared. At this point, the man standing before me was no longer the man I fell in love with three years ago. "I did betray you, but only for a child. It doesn't mean I don't love you or that I don't want you. There's no way you can leave me, Sibyl!! I refuse to let you go!"
I stared at him in shock, "What the hell are you saying?"
He smiled and suddenly pulled me into a forced kiss, "I am telling you that I want my mate and mistress both."
