Chapter 6 Ignored Her at the Company

Since Tobias was a man with an extreme obsession for cleanliness, it was unlikely for him to have an affair with someone else. Still, Cordelia couldn't help but wonder how Tobias had dealt with his sexual desire after they had been married for so long without doing the deed. Is this pure self-control? Or… "Miss Smith?" Cordelia thought she heard someone calling her. Then, she shook her head and snapped back into reality. At that moment, she saw a woman waving her hand in front of her with a smile. In that split second, Cordelia realized she was on the 19th floor of the Great Larkin Group. "Hello, I'm Cordelia." She quickly extended her hand to hide the embarrassment. "Hello, Miss Smith. I already introduced myself earlier. I'm the chief secretary and have worked with Mr. Larkin for five years. From today onwards, you'll temporarily be under my supervision. I'll take you on a brief tour of our group shortly." "Alright. Thank you." Inside the secretary's office, about four women were whispering among themselves. Those women couldn't understand why Cordelia, someone who hadn't even graduated from university, had managed to join the Great Larkin Group's secretarial department. After all, they had fought hard to secure their current positions. Yet, what did Cordelia do to deserve this? "She must've gotten in through connections. Nowadays, many women sleep their way up the ladder…" Although the spokesperson's voice wasn't loud, it was still loud enough for everyone present to hear. Immediately, Lucy's face darkened, and she snapped. "Why are you guys slacking off? Does anyone feel like they have too little on their plate? If so, everyone's clock-out time is delayed by one hour today!" Her words had an instant effect, and the other secretaries quickly quieted down and returned to their respective desks. Then, Lucy turned to Cordelia with a smile. "I'm sorry about that, Miss Smith. I hope you weren't offended." "It's nothing," Cordelia replied with pursed lips. It was Cordelia's composed demeanor that made Lucy notice her. Today, Cordelia wore a simple white blouse tucked into fitted A-line jeans. Her black hair cascaded naturally over her shoulders, and she wore light makeup. Though she wore a simple and casual outfit, it still exuded a unique elegance that effortlessly outshone the other secretaries who wore heavy makeup. However, what caught Lucy's attention the most was that Tobias had personally appointed Cordelia. Thus, she doubted there wasn't some sort of connection between them. That afternoon, Cordelia followed Lucy around as they toured the company's offices. Under Lucy's guide, Cordelia quickly learned that the company was divided into departments such as Human Resources, Sales, Operations, Finance, and many others. Senior executives were mainly on the 18th and 19th floors, while the secretarial division was adjacent to the president's office. On the top floor, there were also three small conference rooms and a large multimedia hall. "I'll take you downstairs now," Lucy said as she led Cordelia toward the elevator. As soon as the words left her mouth, the elevator doors slid open. Inside stood a man with a blank expression. His right hand rested casually in his pocket while his left arm draped his suit jacket over his forearm. His entire demeanor radiated the aura of a business elite. Behind him stood another man with strikingly handsome features. The man wore a baseball cap and was dressed in a sports outfit.
