Chapter 20

The long night felt heavy as the only audible element came from the gentle air conditioner vent located above. Vincent and Isabella rested next to each other while staring at the ceiling surface in silent search for hidden responses. A soft white light from the nightstand illuminates the clock numbers which show 2:00 a.m. Vincent spoke in barely more than a whisper to end the quietness.
