The chamber stank of sweat, gunpowder, and the metallic tang of blood. Diego Montero stood with his feet planted firmly, his muscles coiled like a predator sizing up his prey. Across from him, Rodrigo de la Vega smirked, his dark eyes gleaming with sadistic amusement. The man was taller, broader, but Diego had fought men twice his size and walked away the victor. This fight was personal.
Rodrigo twirled a knife between his fingers, the blade glinting under the dim overhead light. "She was always going to be your downfall, Montero," he said, his voice thick with mockery.
