Chapter 21

As Derek looked at me, I could feel my heart beating to the pace of the wall clock. Everyone's gaze switched from Derek to me, wondering what he'd ask or dare me to do. I exhaled weakly, looked at Bonnie awkwardly before returning my sight to Derek, who was still looking at me. I couldn't ignore the various gazes on me, and I knew I shouldn't try to act strange if Derek dares or questions me. I peered at his lips, watching as they quivered and parted delicately, anticipating what he was going to say.
