Chapter 5 She Is Mine
Hadley settled into the car for the ride home.
The car had barely started moving when Jasper began to speak. “There's something I need to tell you. After we return to the Brimstone Pack, we will announce to the public that you are my adopted daughter, not my biological one.”
Hadley looked up at Jasper, realizing that this matter had not been mentioned over the phone previously.
Her eyes were a pure black, a rarity among werewolves.
Her gaze was also quite indifferent, not at all akin to that of a well-behaved girl.
Jasper felt a chill run down his spine under her intense gaze.
Indeed, even if it was a defective white wolf, they were still very distinctly different from ordinary werewolves.
Yet, none of these obstacles could deter him from bringing Hadley back and fulfilling his grand ambition.
He explained to Hadley, “Our Brimstone Pack has always relied on the support of the Stormfang Pack to achieve the prosperity we have today. Now, the son of the Alpha from the Stormfang Pack and Selene are destined mates. In order to secure the interests of both families, I'm afraid you'll have to sacrifice your true title.”
Ah, so he's probably scared of the Stormfang Pack discovering the truth and rejecting Selene, who is not the Alpha's daughter, resulting in the failure of the alliance between the two packs.
“I see,” Hadley responded indifferently.
Subsequently, she pulled out her phone from her bag, launched a game, and began playing as if the matter at hand didn't concern her at all.
Upon seeing that she had no objections, Jasper breathed a sigh of relief.
Although she was the legendary white wolf, she was surprisingly easy to handle...
Jasper eyed his own flesh and blood, his daughter, with a greedy gaze. His smile was akin to that of a predator who had just caught its prey.
At that moment, Hadley was idly playing a game on her mobile phone.
It was a highly challenging mini-game.
The game shuffled 99 pairs of nearly identical icons, initially revealing them for a minute, then flipping them all over. The goal was to remember the positions of the icons, then eliminate them by matching two of the same kind.
She only spent 10 seconds memorizing this level's layout before she started, then took 48 seconds to complete it, with a mere 1% error rate.
This proved she had the memory of a genius!
Yet, she wasn't satisfied with her progress speed. After resetting the level, she started all over again.
The car drove to the airport, where they boarded a plane. Two hours later, they arrived at the North Delsphere Airport.
Apart from meal times, Hadley was almost constantly working on this level, finally breaking the highest record.
She had memorized the positions in 3 seconds and completed the level in 27 seconds, with a 0% error rate.
At that moment, a few messages popped up on Hadley's phone.
Piggy: Raven! Raven, are you really not taking any more orders?
Piggy: Someone's offering triple the usual rate for you to take on a job. Are you really not going to consider it?
Piggy: Three times the usual rate! Three!
Annoyed, Hadley replied: No.
Piggy: You're ignoring a job that pays in the eight figures. Just what do you want?
Raven: To take a break.
Piggy: Then how long do you plan on resting? I need to let them know.
Raven: Depends on my mood.
With that, Hadley set her phone aside and shut her eyes to rest.
Meanwhile, in the small wooden house where Hadley once lived.
Sylvie was out in the yard, drying some medicinal herbs, when two men clad in camouflage attire approached from beyond the fence.
The man leading the group was strikingly handsome, as if God himself had meticulously sculpted him. He had a tall, upright figure, but there was a significant amount of blood staining his right chest. It was clear he had been injured, but the wound had already been tended to.
Following him was a man with a baby-faced appearance.
Sylvie recognized them as two high-ranking werewolves. Their rank was certainly no less than that of the Gama level, but they had smeared themselves with a potion that concealed their true aura, making it impossible to determine their actual rank.
Just as she had been unafraid of Jasper, Sylvie was similarly unfazed by the sudden appearance of these two male werewolves.
“Do you want a consultation or just the medicine?” asked the woman calmly, setting down the herbs she had in her hands.
“We're looking for someone.” Caspian pulled out a blood-stained cloth from his pocket.
After glancing at the strip of cloth, Sylvie's expression swiftly turned cautious.
That was the fabric she had used to make the dress for Hadley!
She recalled Hadley's appearance when she returned in the morning, then glanced at the bloodstain on the man's chest, and cautiously asked, “You two are...”
Sensing the shift in Sylvie's expression, Caspian explained in a gentle tone, “We're fighters from the Blightwind Pack, carrying out a confidential mission. This young lady assisted us in capturing our wanted criminal and even saved me, so I want to thank her in person.”
“I see, but you're too late,” said Sylvie, lowering her guard. “She left two hours ago, and she won't be coming back.”
Caspian's eyebrows slightly furrowed. “Where did she go?”
Sylvie hesitated for a moment, then finally said, “The Brimstone Pack in North Delsphere.”
“All right, thank you.” After expressing his gratitude, Caspian turned and left.
Matthias Lockwood caught up with Caspian's pace and teasingly asked, “Alpha, what's this about us being on a confidential mission? Don't tell me you've taken a liking to that young girl? She is an underage werewolf, you know.”
“Like her? No, she's mine!”
She was his niece and also the future mate he had been waiting for over eleven years.
Caspian handed the blood-stained cloth strip to Matthias, instructing him, “Clean it thoroughly and deliver it to me tomorrow along with the owner's address.”
He had been waiting for eleven years, and his young mate had finally blossomed into a seventeen-year-old girl. All he needed was to wait one more year until she turned eighteen, then her wolf would be able to hear the call of its mate.
When the time came...
