Chapter 6 Pleasure Beyond Measure
Annabelle blushed, and even her neck became reddish. She panicked so much that she didn't even know where to look. She looked away hastily.
"You... Get dressed."
"All right. I thought I had to be naked," Kendrick said, lying through his teeth.
Annabelle turned around and had her back facing him. She felt a bit helpless and said, "No. I will only apply medicine to your forehead."
She thought, 'The shower only serves to improve his circulation so that the ointment will work better. When did I say it was for his whole body? Never mind. It's probably my fault. I didn't make it clear.'
Five minutes later, Kendrick changed into a set of casual loungewear, which looked clean and comfortable. In a plain white T-shirt and light gray slacks, he looked more relaxed, his demeanor softer than when he was in his suit.
Annabelle sized him up and admitted that he looked good.
"Do I look good?"
Annabelle felt a bit awkward being seen through by him.
"Well, I guess so." She looked away coldly and glanced at the living room. "Go lie down on the sofa."
Kendrick squinted and realized that she was shy.
So, he smiled. Without saying anything more, he did as he was told and went to lie down on the sofa.
Annabelle was relieved looking at his back.
She hurried to urge herself, 'Come on, Annabelle! Don't let that cunning fox get you! He is nothing more than your patient. Naked or not, it makes no difference to you! Don't blush. Calm down. Breathe... Just breathe...'
She then felt much better.
She regained her composure and was once again the aloof and distant doctor.
Then she knelt on the carpet, scooped out the brown ointment with a small spoon, spread it evenly over Kendrick's forehead and temples, and gave him a massage.
The ointment was cool and fragrant, while Annabelle's small hands were soft and warm. Kendrick felt utterly contented, almost beyond measure.
Meanwhile, Annabelle had managed to calm herself down, so she wasn't distracted.
She massaged him seriously and said, "Your condition has been delayed for too long, so we can't use strong medicine right away. It needs to be treated gradually. During the treatment, you must avoid alcohol and more importantly, don't stay up late. Have you heard me?"
Her voice was soft and pure, and when he heard her say "Have you heard me?", he felt that she was deeply worried about him.
In the years after his mother passed away, he seemed to have never been treated so gently by a woman, and he felt that his heart was filled with warmth at once.
"OK. Whatever you say."
Annabelle glanced at him. "I want no lip service."
"I didn't drink tonight. They kept telling me to drink, and I told them my wife wouldn't let me drink, or she wouldn't sleep with me."
Annabelle blushed. She thought, 'How could he say those words without blushing?'
"It's done now. You can go wash it off."
"Already?"
Kendrick hadn't had enough of it yet.
"Yes. The ointment can't stay on your body too long."
"Will you do it again tomorrow night?"
Annabelle glanced at him. 'So he actually believes in me? Didn't see this coming. I thought he would be impatient, yet now, it seems that he's quite looking forward to it.'
On second thought, she read his behavior in a different way. 'The ointment has certain analgesic effects, and the smell is soothing, too. Maybe he just enjoyed the pleasure he felt during the process.'
"For the first two weeks of the treatment, I will apply the ointment every two days. Then I'll add more ways of treatment and medication according to your condition. No rush."
He wanted to talk to her more, yet she just packed up her stuff and went upstairs without even looking at him.
Kendrick couldn't help but grin. It was the first time he knew what it was like to be ignored.
