Riley tore through the forest, the trees blurring past her in steaks of green and brown. Her boots dug into the earth with every panicked step she took. Branches whipped at her face. Twigs snapped underfoot. Her breaths came out rough, loud in her ears, almost overshadowing the sound of her pounding heart.
