Chapter 8 The Assassin

Killian signaled the spy closer to him to tell the others to return to base. Then he ran after Kimberly. “Why am I always so unlucky.” Kimberly cursed herself and squatted on the floor, she was too weak to continue running. She hit herself several times and sobbed. “Hitting yourself will change nothing you’re just going to hurt your skin.” Killian said to her while standing in front of her. Kimberly raised her head slowly and saw Killian. “What are you doing here?” Kimberly asked looking unhappy. “I’m here to take you back home.” “I have no home.” Kimberly replied almost immediately. A soft smile escaped Killian lips when he heard what Kimberly said. “Really?” Kimberly nodded her head. “Just leave me alone, after all you don’t believe me.” Killian realized from the way she was on the floor it’s obvious she’s too weak to continue running. “If you say so, I’ll go.” Kimberly looked around her and noticed there was no one there, she remembered Matt and his men. “You are so wicked, you’re really going to leave me here to die!” Kimberly yelled out of frustration and fear, she struggled to stand while yelling. Killian stopped on his tracks when he heard what she said. “My plan worked.” Killian muttered to himself as a soft smile escaped his lips. He turned back and saw Kimberly struggling to raise her feet, he walked closer to her and carried her. Kimberly wanted to protest against it but she was too weak to walk so she just kept calm until they got back to the palace. *************** “What happened to her?” Alpha Damian asked Killian. Killian was wondering how Alpha Damian knew there was something wrong. “The same as always.” Alpha Damian turned to look at Killian surprised. “Your plan failed?” Alpha Damian was surprised because Killian’s strategies have always been the best. How did he fail this time? “They are smarter than I thought.” “Yes they obviously are. Why was she unable to walk back home?” Alpha Damian asked Killian. “I got angry and yelled at her, so she ran away and became too weak to walk back home.” Alpha Damian was amazed to hear that Killian lost his temper on a lady for the first time. “She must have really frustrated you.” They both laughed. Killian suddenly remembered those people Kimberly always talked about and his mood changed the fact that he did not get them really hurt his pride. “I must get them.” Alpha Damian was wondering who Killian was talking about. “Who?” “Those intruders.” Alpha Damian knew it was not Killian’s nature to give up so he wasn’t surprised. **************** One week passed and Kimberly still refused to go out. It made Killian sad because he was unable to catch the bad guys. “Hi, how was your night?” Killian asked Kimberly while she was yawning and stretching her hands tiredly. “My night was nice.” Kimberly replied with a smile. “Care to take a walk?” Kimberly was getting tired of Killian's constant trial of making her take a walk with him. “No.” Kimberly didn’t hesitate to decline. She stood up to get her dress and was shocked to see nothing in the wardrobe. She turned to look at Killian and he pretended like he didn’t know what had happened. “How is this even possible?” Kimberly asked herself and turned to look at the empty wardrobe again. ************* Kimberly had no other choice than to follow Killian to the market so she could get herself new clothes, she somehow knew Killian had a hand in her missing clothes, they were just three but she was fine with them. Kimberly stopped on her tracks and turned to look at Killian. “Please promise me, what happened the last time will never happen again.” Kimberly begged Killian to promise her. Killian knew there was no way he can fulfill her promise but to make her feel better he nodded his head in agreement. “I promise.” He said to her with his right hand raised. Kimberly felt at ease and started enjoying her walk to the market, for the first time she felt comfortable in the market without thinking Matt and his people would trouble her. She stopped at a lady’s store, the clothes were so beautiful and Kimberly would love to get one. “You love it?” The lady asked Kimberly. Kimberly raised her head to look at the lady, she found the lady’s smile kind of weird but she controlled herself not to overthink an ordinary smile. “Yes I do.” Kimberly replied to the lady with a smile on her face. Kimberly couldn’t stop admiring the clothing material. “It’s beautiful right?” Kimberly was wondering why there was no reply from Killian, she raised her head and turned sideways, she was shocked to realize Killian was no longer with her. “It’s beautiful, you have to get one.” The lady said to Kimberly who was already lost in thought wondering where Killian must have gone. Kimberly couldn’t stop looking around just maybe she would sight Killian, but Killian seemed completely out of sight. What was left for Kimberly to do is cry. She turned to the man with goods beside the lady’s clothing store and he gave her a weird smile, all the store owners around were staring at her in a weird way as it gave her a feeling that Matt’s people are around. “Killian!” Kimberly screamed just maybe he’ll hear her, but instead of him hearing her everyone in the market stared at her like she was crazy. “Ma’am, are you looking for someone?” The lady asked Kimberly, still giving her a weird smile. “I’m definitely going crazy.” Kimberly said to herself while looking at the woman. Everything and everyone is making her go crazy. The lady that owns the clothing store slowly started moving towards her which was unknown to Kimberly. Kimberly dropped the cloth feeling disappointed in Killian for abandoning her again. “Don’t you dare move a step forward.” Kimberly stopped on her tracks, she was wondering who owned the masculine voice. She turned back and saw the store owner removing her face mask. “She is a man?” Kimberly asked herself shocked, she was about to run when the man moved like a flash and placed a knife on her neck.
