No one opened the door for Hana. She tried a few more times and gave up. Sitting on the floor, she hugged her legs to her chest and propped her jaw on her knees. Minutes felt like hours. Hana would never know how long she waited there. The loud footsteps on the floor made her head raise. She blinked in shock as Kyle staggered towards her. He stopped once to place a hand on the wall and catch his step. She was still too stunned to move, so she watched him idle in her direction. Hana stood when Kyle reached the door. If he saw her, he didn’t acknowledge her. She was quiet beside him as he fumbled in his pocket for something. Moments later, he pulled out a key. The air around him smelt different, like he had been drinking. Her eyes dragged down his body, unsure what she was looking for.
