Chapter 5 Kiss You

“What?” sputtered out of Hana’s lips. “If you lie, I’ll kiss you. So, don’t lie.” Hana’s heart skipped a beat. She backed away from Kyle until her back hit the sink. Kyle’s grin only widened. He took slow steps towards her until he was right in front of her. This chase was different. Her body welcomed it. A part of her wanted to know what it felt like to be kissed by him. To be kissed willingly, not due to a situation. “How will you know if I’m lying?” she asked. His eyes lowered to her hands, and she balled them into fists. Hana hated lying because her hands were a giveaway. His hands came on either side of the sink, trapping her between his body and the cool surface behind her. The truth was that she liked this position very much. His eyes were greyer up close, his lips poutier, and she almost gave in to the urge to kiss this man. “I’ll know,” Kyle whispered. “I have my ways.” Hana didn’t doubt this sexy man for a second. If seduction was the tactic he intended to use, it was already working on her. Kyle grasped her jaw. She wet her lips without meaning to, and his eyes darkened. Hana might not have a lot of experience with men, but she knew he also wanted to kiss her. She sucked in a soft breath. She wouldn’t mind him kissing her. Kyle’s head dipped, his lips brushed her cheek, and he whispered into her ear, “Hands on my chest, darling. It’s time for the questions.” Hana didn’t move. She must have heard wrong, and if she didn’t, she couldn’t get her arms to move. He wrapped his hand around her wrists. “What are you doing?” she shrieked. “Doing what you wouldn’t. Hands on my chest.” In seconds, her hands jumped to his chest. His body vibrated with laughter, and tingles shot up her arms. God, she liked touching this man. “First question.” Hana closed her eyes. “Please don’t ask about my family. Or my name. Or anything about me.” “Why?” he whispered. “There’s nothing to talk about,” she replied, opening her eyes to see his reaction to her words. Something warm and sad passed his eyes, and she faked a smile. She didn’t want him to pity her. She wanted him to continue looking at her like a woman he would love to take to his bed. “Why did you lie to your mum?” “I didn’t lie,” she blurted out too fast. Kyle pursed his lips. “Wrong answer.” “I mean—” His lips captured her words, and one hand snuck to the back of her head. Hana gasped, and his tongue slid into her mouth. He tasted like wine. Red, expensive wine. Kyle bit her lower lip, and she moaned. She hadn’t kissed so many men. Until this night, she hadn’t kissed anyone. What was she supposed to do? Kyle cupped her ass at her stiffness, and she let herself go. She let herself get lost in the moment. Following the moves she described in her story, she touched his tongue with hers, sucked on his upper lip, and he grunted. Hana took that as a sign and pressed harder. She wanted to brand him. They broke away to catch their breaths, and his mouth brushed hers in a final kiss. Foreheads touching, Kyle grinned. “You’re a great kisser.” Hana’s face heated, and she hid the evidence of her shyness plus embarrassment with her palms. Her eyes searched his face for the truth. There was no way she could have kissed him right on the first try. He smiled, and she knew he meant that. Butterflies danced in her belly. She would keep that compliment close to her heart. “Thanks. You’re not too bad yourself, Kyle.” Kyle laughed. He was the most fantastic kisser ever, and she didn’t need the experience to know. She felt it. Everything she always mentioned in her book. He withdrew his hands from her waist, and she missed the contact. She was so gone. “Second question,” he started. She nodded for him to go ahead. “Are you injured anywhere else?” Her head stopped shaking halfway. “I’m not sure. I fell.” She raised her hands to show him the scratches on her elbows. Those could heal on their own. “I’m really fine, Kyle. Thanks.” “I’ll leave you to have your bath now. Call me if you need anything.” There was an underlying meaning to the word. She looked up, and Kyle was staring at her mouth. To tease him, she swiped her tongue over her lips, and he gulped. She was being naughty, which wasn’t in her nature, but she liked it. “Anything at all, Angel. Anything.” The door shut behind Kyle, and she inhaled a breath of fresh air. As much as Hana wanted to kiss him again, she needed to be alone. What was she doing in a kind stranger’s bathroom, pining for another kiss? Her parents would be so disappointed. Thinking of her parents made her pale. She had to hurry up and leave. She would be punished if her father found out she was out late. As soon as the reality sank in, her eyes misted with unshed tears. At twenty-four, her parents still ruled her life. As if that wasn’t enough to laugh or write about, a near-rape incident was what led to her first kiss. For this night, though, she would play along with Kyle’s fantasy. Her knees still felt like jelly. Hana stripped out of her dress and wobbled to the shower. Warm water hit her face, and she scrubbed her skin sore in an attempt to get rid of the feeling of those men hands on her, Still, it felt like they had marked her. It was only now she realised how Kyle’s presence had kept those ill thoughts and feelings at bay. Clenching her eyes, she forced every negative thought behind the memory of her first real kiss. Kissing Kyle to scare off those men was different from kissing him because she wanted to. It was better, and she would gladly repeat it. After bathing, she padded out of the bathroom with a big towel around her waist and another tied around her head. Kyle was on a phone call when she came in. His stance was off. He had one hand flattened against the wall, and his foot bounced continuously. Yeah, he was annoyed. By her? Not to worry, she would leave once the clothes arrived. She would be out of here soon. “Crap,” Kyle muttered and kicked the wall. “What is it?” Kyle offered her a sheepish grin. The hand with his phone lowered. “Sorry, Angel. Did I scare you?” Hana almost laughed. She believed she scared him. But she played along. “The rain. It started again. My assistant is held up.” Her lips puckered into a sharp O. That was not good. Baba would be home by now. “I’m so sorry, Angel.” “No,” she said with a shake of her head. The pitter-patter of the rain outside became louder. None of these was his fault. “It’s fine. Thanks.” “Yeah.” Kyle observed her, and Hana smiled so he knew there was nothing to worry about. He walked to the closet and disappeared behind the door. “I guess you have to find something else to wear. You can wear one of mine. I hope you don’t mind?” His head poked out, and Hana shook her head. Kyle returned in front of her with a rumpled dress. “Oh, found this. It should fit.” Hana could not take it. She didn’t want to wear the dresses of one of the women he had slept with. “You wear dresses?” she asked. “It’s for my sister. Take it.” Her smile gave away her jealousy, she looked away, but he laughed at her. “I don’t bring women here.” Hana had no idea why he was telling her, but she liked it. She felt special to be the first woman here. “We will wait a while for the rain to subside and get the stuff from my assistant. Then I can take you home.” “Alright. Thanks.” Bouncing on the sole of her feet, tears flooded her eyes. He was too kind, never once demanding payback. “A lot. For helping me. I don’t know what I would have done if not for you, Kyle.” His smile was genuine and innocent. His thumb pressed to the skin below her lips. “I’m sure someone else would have helped you, Angel.” If only he knew that he was the only one who helped. But Hana smiled to keep him talking. “I’ll be in the living room if you need anything.” Her arm tightened on her towel. “Living room?” “Yes.” Kyle’s hands slipped into his pockets. “I don’t want to infringe on your privacy, Angel. My promise was to take care of you and get you home. I intend to do just that, my darling.” Fear flashed through her. The thought of her saviour leaving her alone in this room scared her as much as getting chased by those men. “No, stop. You’re not infringing on anything.” This was his place. She was the one infringing. She walked into his life and ruined his evening, and not once had he complained. Kyle’s eyes narrowed, but she didn’t care. He had to stay. “Angel, it’s fine. I can always sleep on the couch.” “No, Kyle.” She took a step forward and placed a hand on his chest. His heart beat fast, so did hers. She would not let him sleep on a couch. “Please stay. I want you to stay.” “Because of the couch?” he asked. It was more than that. She didn’t want to be alone but didn’t know how to say it. “The couch is comfortable, I promise you. And there’s another room if it gets uncomfortable.” “No,” she said. “Stay here.” Grey locked on blue. Hana’s thoughts drifted to his lips and what she would give for another kiss. “Are you sure, my darling?” he asked. Her finger jerked. “Yes.” The reply was barely out of her lips when Kyle claimed her lips. She kissed him back because she couldn’t get enough of kissing him. She kissed him because he made her feel things. Breaking the kiss, Kyle’s index finger rubbed against her cheek. “You lied,” he whispered. Oh. She thought the game was over. How long did it last? If it would earn her more kisses, she didn’t want a quick end to it. “You’re not sure.” “Maybe,” she added. “But it’s not because I’m scared of you or anything like that. I’m just used to sleeping with only my—” Hana cut herself off. Kyle frowned, but she couldn’t complete the statement. The only person she was used to sleeping with was her younger sister. Cara had her own room but sometimes, would sneak into Hana’s. “You were about to say something,” he said. “Yes.” He quirked a brow, waiting for her to continue, but she didn’t. “Will you stay?”
