In a dark room, Karen's body lay unconscious on a bed, her hands cuffed against the frame's cold metal. Instinctively, she snapped her eyes open, blinking countlessly to dispel the haze that clouded her vision. She looked around the place, observing the velvet curtains that covered the windows, which blocked out any form of natural light into the room.
