Chapter 7 Party Time, Yah, Ugh

After an hour, I came out of the bathroom dressed in a short red dress, which Maddie sneakily hid. I should have gotten up from the bed to pick out the dress. The dress hugged my body perfectly, showing my curves; it stopped above my knees, exposing my long legs. It's a good thing I shaved this morning. "Don't you think this dress is a little short? It makes me look like a hooker." I said this as I examined myself in the mirror. "No, it's not short, and you don't look like a hooker. If anything, you look way too hot." Maddie replied. "I can't help the way I look, and you don't look bad yourself. I guess we can't just help it; we look too hot." I chuckled as Maddie gave me a high five. She was putting on a crop top and matching bum shots; her blond hair was straightening and falling off her shoulders. After Maddie was done with my makeup and curled my hair, we took a quick picture and sent it to Sofie. Maddie took her keys, and we went out the door. The sun was already gone, and the moon graced us with her presence like the queen she was. After about 20 minutes, Maddie turned onto a gravel road that led up to a mansion. We pulled up to the side of the driveway, and I could see a lot of students walking towards the house. The music was blasting through the speaker. We got out of the car, and Maddie locked her arms around mine as we walked through the front door. If I'm going to get through the night, I need a drink. I saw a couple heavily making out at the side of the room, while some guys were having a drinking challenge. We were able to spot Daniel and Dylan; Hayden was not with them, which is a good thing. Hopefully, he will decide to skip this party. We walked in the direction of where Dylan and Daniel were, and Maddie flung herself into Dylan's arms. "I am surprised to see you, Bree." Dylan teased. I wasn't really the party type, so I understand why he would be surprised. "I had to drag her here; she didn't want to come." Maddie spoke; her fingers played around with Dylan's hair. "Breeee, I have missed you." Daniel said, his eyes widening to see me here. By the way he was moving, it showed that he was clearly drunk. "How many drinks have you had tonight?" I questioned. "I don't know, I lost count at ten." He stumbled a little, and I held onto him as support to stop him from lying face down on the floor. "Come, let's have more drinks." I was about to decline his offer, but I don't want to be left alone with Maddie and Dylan, making me a third wheel. "Sure, no problem; lead the way." Daniel and I walked into the kitchen, and he handed me a red cup with a drink in it. "Let's join the crew playing truth or dare." I turned to look at what he was talking about and saw a group of boys and girls spinning a bottle. "Maybe another time, but you are free to go." He stumbled out of the kitchen in the direction of the group and took a seat. Wanting to leave the crowded place, I turned my heel and walked out. I needed some fresh air, and it was too suffocating in here. I stumbled past people making their way to the backyard. The feel of the cold air against my body felt refreshing. The wind wrapped itself around my body, and I shivered a little. I stretched my arms out and breathed in the moist air. The light from the house shone deeply in the backyard. I raised the cup to my lips, drinking it all in one go. The bitter taste swept through me. I closed my eyes, enjoying the night, before walking back inside the house. I went back to the place I had last seen Maddie to find her still there. They were doing a drink challenge, and Maddie happened to be the star. When she saw me, she immediately stumbled towards me, letting out a series of giggles like she was possessed: "I see you have been busy." "I am having the best night ever." She screamed out, and those around her cheered at her words. Dylan rushed towards us; he seemed okay, like he hadn't had a sip of alcohol. He got a hold of Maddie's hand, bringing her closer to him. "That’s enough drink for you, babe," he said sternly. "But why..." Maddie pouted her lips and whined at the thought of not having any more drinks. "Take care of her." I told him, staring deeply into his eyes, making sure he understood my unsaid threat. He gulped before smiling. "I will; why don’t you enjoy the night?"
