Chapter 8 He Is My Master
Aaron pushed open the door and barked, “Who are you? How dare you—” He froze in his tracks, his speech trailing off once he observed Leopold's exceptional acupuncture skills. “Is that the famed Drago Solar Day acupuncture technique from the northern border? I can't believe I'm fortunate enough to see the famed technique in person!”
Aaron's gaze was brimming with fervor as he watched Leopold in action.
He had never seen anyone perform the Drago Solar Day technique in person, but he had done plenty of research on the technique.
Leopold's actions exactly matched the records Aaron had read about the acupuncture procedure.
Once all twenty-four needles were in place, John gradually awoke on the hospital bed.
John was slightly confused when he saw a young man dressed in camo-patterned casual wear before him.
Because he was considered a small fry in the Swallow family, Dray had not invited John to the meal.
He had never met Leopold and had little idea that the young man was the notorious future son-in-law who had caused the series of events earlier.
“Who are you?” asked John.
Leopold hastily gestured for John to stay put and replied, “Don't move. You can get up after all the needles have been removed.”
“A-Are you treating me with acupuncture?” John instantly grew wary. “Is this the hospital? Why aren't you wearing a doctor's coat?”
Before Leopold could say a word, Aaron burst into the room and exclaimed, “I can't believe you know how to use the Drago Solar Day technique. That was so impressive! I never even dreamed that I would have the privilege of seeing the technique in person!”
Leopold smiled affably and began removing the needles from John's body.
Once the last needle was removed, John felt extremely refreshed, almost as though his body had aged backward by ten years.
Minutes later, he was up on his feet and walking in the room.
An impassioned Aaron exclaimed, “You're simply outstanding, young man! I've been researching Drago Solar Day for much of my life, and I would be honored if you would take me under your wing! I don't expect to learn all your knowledge; even a couple of tips would be useful for the rest of my life!”
As he spoke, Aaron made a move to kneel before Leopold.
“Me too! Please take me under your wing! Master, your medical skills are truly out of this world!”
Even John had joined Aaron's example, keen to seek guidance from Leopold.
Leopold was speechless.
Aaron himself was a doctor. It was perfectly understandable for him to be a fan of an acupuncture technique such as Drago Solar Day. However, John hardly knew any medicine.
Why is he jumping in? Plus, he's my future father-in-law. It would be so odd for him to call me “Master” while I call him “Dad.”
“Stop kneeling. I don't take students,” declared Leopold.
Then, he grabbed his sheepskin parchment and left the emergency room.
Aaron refused to give up. He trailed after Leopold and pleaded, “Just consider it a good deed, Master. Please grant my years-long wish!”
John chimed in, “Master, I want to learn such extraordinary medical skills too!”
Their enthusiasm struck Leopold silent.
Outside the emergency room, Katherine was drowning in anxiety.
Lorraine and the others shared her sentiment.
Half an hour had passed with no sign of the hospital director's arrival.
Everyone was beginning to suspect that Dray had fooled them.
Out of options, Katherine readied herself to call Dray again when the doors to the emergency room opened.
Everyone looked over and saw three men walking out of the emergency room.
To their surprise, Leopold stood at the head of the group, with Aaron and John walking behind him.
Lorraine squealed, “Didn't that poor loser leave already? What is he doing here? Did he decide to sabotage John out of hatred after I scolded him?”
Unlike her, Hilda exclaimed joyfully, “Just ignore him! Can't you see? John's cured! He's even walking on his own two feet like a normal person!”
“Mom, the person behind John is Dr. Wand. He's Dray's uncle,” Joseph said.
Lorraine's eyes were filled with relief. “Ah, so Dray already called his uncle for help. He's not the best communicator, but I knew he was a kind man. Mom and Joseph definitely picked a better man for Katherine than that poor loser!”
The Swallow family swarmed John and Aaron, pushing Leopold aside.
Katherine shot Leopold a complicated gaze and remained quiet.
“Dr. Wand, you're an amazing doctor. John's already up and walking after you treated him, and he looks so much more refreshed than before.”
“You're a modern-day Hippocrates, Dr. Wand. You cured the incurable and defeated the Grim Reaper!”
“Dr. Wand, thank you so much for your help. I'll treat you to a meal soon to thank you for saving my son's life.”
Faced with the Swallow family's praises, Aaron raised his hands and clarified, “There's a misunderstanding. I didn't save anyone. Everything is thanks to my master!”
“What? You have a master? Where is he?” asked Lorraine curiously.
John nodded. “Yes. Dr. Wand's master saved my life! He's my master too.”
What?
The Swallows were utterly perplexed.
“He's closer than you think! That strapping young man is Dr. Wand's and my new master.” John approached Leopold and bowed before continuing, “Thank you for saving my life, Master!”
The Swallows reacted as though they had been struck dumb by lightning.
The person who saved John is Leopold? And did John seriously just call Leopold his master? What the heck is happening? Are we living in a sitcom right now?
John was puzzled by his family's reaction.
“Why do all of you look like that?”
Lorraine quickly chastised him. “Did the illness get to your brain, John? He's nothing but a poor brat. How could he have saved your life?” She then turned to Aaron. “Don't feel bad about taking credit for your efforts, Dr. Wand. We all know your nephew, Dray, asked you to perform the surgery on my husband.”
Aaron's expression instantly darkened as he insisted, “I said you were mistaken. I didn't save anybody. My master did. On that note, when did Dray call me? I had no idea.”
To prove his point, Aaron took out his phone and showed them his call log, which did not have a single missed call in it.
At that moment, the young doctor who had been told off by Dray earlier came up to the group.
“Barry, what are you doing here? And why are you wearing surgery scrubs?” Aaron asked doubtfully.
“D-Dr. Wand, Mr. Wand said you were too busy to come to the hospital, so he asked me to operate on a patient in your place...”
Rage swelled in Aaron's chest. He barked, “You've never done surgery in your life! And here you are attempting to perform a heart surgery on a patient?”
Barry Lindell almost cried. “Your nephew said I would be fired if I refused to perform the surgery, Dr. Wand.”
Aaron frowned and ordered, “That's enough. Be off, then!”
“Thank you, Dr. Wand!”
Relieved to be let off the hook, Barry did not waste another second before scurrying off.
Dray is trying to kill my father!
Katherine was about to explode in anger. She whipped out her phone and immediately called Dray.
