Chapter 5 Who Will Meet Their Demise First

“What happened?” Both Hilda and Joseph were taken aback. “Katherine and Leopold, that simp, have gotten together!” Athena exclaimed. “They held hands right in front of me and went to City Hall to register their marriage!” “What?” Hilda's blood pressure surged, almost causing her to pass out. “That jinx! She knew perfectly well that Mom and I had arranged for her to get married, yet she took matters into her own hands and got involved with that poor loser!” Joseph was so mad that he slammed the table. Dray's expression also turned grim when he heard that. Afraid that he would get angry, Hilda quickly said, “Mr. Wand, please stay calm. I'll call her right now. I don't think she would really dare to go against us!” Hilda took out her phone. However, she was about to dial Katherine's number when the door to the private room swung open once more. Katherine entered the room with Leopold and Lilianna. Athena immediately berated her. “Katherine, how dare you bring that man to see Grandma?” Ignoring her, Katherine turned to Hilda and Joseph and announced, “Grandma, Uncle Joseph, I have something to tell you. From now on, Leopold will be the father of my daughter, and I will not marry anyone else.” Those words felt like a slap in the face to Dray. “Katherine, I'm giving you a chance to make things right. Get rid of that uncultured man before I handle the situation myself!” Dray stood up, his eyes brimming with malice. Leopold responded with an icy smirk. “Handle the situation? What can you do, though?” “I have some very captivating videos on my phone. If Katherine dares to get involved with another man, I'll promptly share them online and make the entire city of Yarwood aware of her promiscuity!” Dray said with a sinister grin. “Videos? Dray, have you no shame? I've never met you in private. How dare you fabricate such videos?” Katherine bellowed while clenching her fists. “Just give up! A man who resorts to such deceitful tactics to achieve his objectives is not fit to be the father of my daughter!” Dray looked at Katherine triumphantly. “Well, now that you've mentioned your daughter, I suddenly have an idea. Listen up, Katherine. If you don't spend the night with me, I might just let these videos slip into the hands of your daughter, her kindergarten buddies, their parents, and the teachers. You know, they probably won't be able to tell if it's real or not, and it might just go viral. Imagine the embarrassment not just for you but for your little one too. So, what's your move now?” To Dray, Katherine was now firmly in his grasp. “How dare you!” Katherine was so furious that her face turned red and she was bereft of words. She could have tolerated Dray's nonsense and endured it if he had only directed it at her. However, when he involved Lilianna, she had no option but to confront him, as she could not afford to take any risks. Just as Dray reached to grab Katherine, a cold voice cut through the air. “You have ten seconds to delete those videos and leave.” At that moment, Leopold exuded an icy, murderous aura. Dray's hand paused in mid-air. “Do you know who I am? How dare you snatch my woman?” “I don't care who you are. If you dare lay a finger on Katherine, I'll kill you,” Leopold threatened indifferently. “Kill me? Let's see who will meet their demise first! I'll—” Dray rolled up his sleeves, poised to throw a punch at Leopold. However, there was a resounding crash before he could complete his sentence. He was forcefully sent flying and crashed onto the couch against the wall. The couch emitted creaking and cracking sounds under the impact. Even the robust frame of the couch was snapped into pieces. Boom! The couch collapsed instantly. Dray spat out a mouthful of blood and lay amidst the broken pieces of the couch. “Ten seconds are up,” Leopold said casually as if he had just kicked an empty soda can. “H-How dare you—” Dray struggled to sit up, attempting to utter some threatening words, but he was trembling so much that he could not form a coherent sentence. “Leave! Get out of Katherine's sight right now!” Leopold roared. Taking in the steely determination in Leopold's gaze, Dray quivered with fear. He refrained from uttering another word, clambered to his feet, and hastily made his escape toward the door. “Hold up!” Leopold hollered abruptly. Leopold's words sent shivers down Dray's spine, and his legs trembled uncontrollably. “Y-You told me to leave, right?” “Your phone,” Leopold said, walking up to him and extending his hand. Dray had no choice but to comply. He quickly handed over his phone. Leopold stood still, holding the phone high with one hand, and then proceeded to crush the waterproof and bulletproof device into powder. Dray broke out in a cold sweat, feeling as if he was about to wet his pants from fear. “Scram!” Leopold flicked his hand, scattering the fine powder all over Dray's face. Dray did not even dare to wipe it off as he stumbled out. “Katherine, how dare your man attack Mr. Wand?” Joseph, who had just regained his senses, felt the urge to strangle her. “Grandma, our company is doomed if Mr. Wand decides to blame the Swallow family for this!” Athena added, fanning the flames. Hilda gritted her teeth and threatened Katherine. “Since you've decided to be with that poor loser and don't give a d*mn about the Swallow family's future, I'm taking back the mansion. You and your family can sleep under a bridge for all I care!” As soon as she finished speaking, she took out her phone and called Katherine's father, John Swallow. “Grandma...” Katherine began to panic. She was taken aback by Hilda's willingness to prioritize family interests over everything else and make such a ruthless decision, especially considering that it was Dray who had initiated the shameful act in the first place. “Let's take Lilianna to dinner first. I'll handle the situation here no matter how bad it gets.” Leopold carried Lilianna while holding Katherine's hand and walked out of the room. Katherine did not stop him, not because she believed Leopold could handle Dray, but simply because Lilianna was present. She did not want her daughter to witness the ugly side of humanity at such a young age. However, just as the family of three had settled down for dinner, Katherine received a call from her stepmother, Lorraine Smith. “Katherine Swallow, you good-for-nothing! If anything happens to John, it's all your fault!” Katherine's heart sank. “What happened to Dad?” “How dare you ask what happened?” Lorraine's voice was filled with anger and frustration. “You got involved with that broke lad and offended Mr. Wand. Old Mrs. Swallow called and said she wanted to sever ties with our family and kick us out of the Swallow residence. Your father got agitated and had a sudden heart attack! Come to Catena Hospital and wait at the entrance right now!”
