Chapter 7 Royal Amethyst
Three billion!
Is Jonathan's necklace worth three billion?
The enormous numbers washed over their worldview like waves crashing repeatedly.
Seeing Jonathan refuse even three billion, the old man became somewhat anxious.
At that moment, Alvin suddenly let out a snort of laughter and said loudly, “Enough! Stop acting! Do you really think that by pulling in a couple of extras to play along, your worthless gift could turn into a treasure?”
Acting?
The crowd suddenly snapped to realization!
Exactly!
How can Jonathan, that good-for-nothing, possibly have something worth billions?
“Josephine, with a man like him, I think you should hurry up and get a divorce. He's all talk and no truth!”
“Isn't it embarrassing to invite someone to put on a play when you can't afford to give expensive gifts?”
Josephine's face turned beet red from what they all were saying to her.
“Jonathan, have you had enough of your antics? Take your worthless stone and get lost!” In a fit of anger, Josephine pointed at Jonathan and scolded him.
“All right, if you don't want it, then...”
Suddenly, there was a “crack” sound.
The gemstone, originally in Jonathan's hand, shattered into pieces in an instant, falling to the ground.
That was a rare treasure worth three billion!
Just like that, he shattered it into a million pieces.
“This gift was meant for you. If you don't want it, it loses its value.” Jonathan's expression was impassive.
“Have you lost your mind?” The sight before his eyes gave the old man quite a fright. “This is the last remaining Royal Amethyst in the world!”
He was trembling with anger, recklessly rushing forward to pick up the pieces of the shattered Royal Amethyst from the ground.
“It's just a worthless rock. What are you trying to pull?” Seeing the old man's actions, Alvin lifted his leg and wanted to kick him.
It was a close call as he almost knocked the old man over with a kick.
“Alvin Langford, are you seeking death?”
Suddenly, the middle-aged man behind the old man swiftly stepped forward, kicking Alvin to the ground with a single blow.
“Do you know me?”
Alvin's face turned ashen.
Knowing my identity, who would dare to lay a hand on me?
Don't they want to live anymore?
The middle-aged man gave him a cold glance without uttering a word.
He pulled out his phone and made a call, exchanging only two sentences after it was answered.
“Sebastian, please take good care of your son. If you don't take care of him, then I'll do it for you!”
His words immediately triggered a wave of dumbfounded laughter among those present.
Who was Sebastian?
He was the chairman of Langford Group in Jadeborough.
He was worth over a billion.
The crowd thought, how dare these extras use Sebastian's name to bluff and deceive?
No sooner had the middle-aged man finished speaking than Alvin's phone suddenly rang.
“Hello? Dad?”
He suddenly had a bad feeling as to how the situation was unfolding.
“Kneel and apologize!”
“What?” Alvin was taken aback, wondering if he had heard wrongly.
“I demand you to kneel and apologize!”
“Why should I?” Alvin gritted his teeth.
“Why should you? Just because he's Felix Quantrill from Jazona? In terms of status, power, and connections, I'm no match for him! If you don't want to die, you better kneel obediently! Otherwise, even I won't be able to save you!”
After a round of scolding, Alvin was left completely dumbfounded.
Even the hand holding the phone was trembling with cold sweat trickling down.
Thud!
Without uttering another word, Alvin immediately knelt with his head on the ground.
He looked extremely humbled at that moment.
“Mr. Quantrill, I-I'm sorry!”
“Don't apologize to me!” The middle-aged man glanced at him and added, “You should apologize to Mr. Young!”
“Mr. Young, I'm sorry. Please... please forgive me!”
Mr. Young!
In this city, there was only one person who could trump Felix's status.
That was the elderly man who returned to his hometown from Baykeep ten years ago.
His name was Soren Young, the top tycoon of Chanaea.
In comparison, the Langford family was worth nothing.
Soren paid no attention to Alvin. He just silently picked up the pieces of the shattered Royal Amethyst from the ground and walked up to Jonathan. “I can fix this Royal Amethyst!”
“You can have it.” Jonathan didn't even spare him a glance.
His gaze was on Josephine the entire time.
Soren paused for a moment, then waved his hand, signaling the middle-aged man to write a check. “For the Royal Amethyst, I won't take it for free. Here's one billion. Consider it as me buying it from you!”
A shattered gem, even if repaired, would see a significant drop in its value. One billion was already quite a fair price.
As soon as the words fell, scribbling could be heard.
Then, a check for one billion was handed over to Jonathan.
The zeros on the check dazzled the eyes of everyone present.
Right then and there, all of Josephine's so-called best friends cast flirtatious glances at Jonathan.
Ysobel's mouth fell open in disbelief. Just a year ago, he had to rely on the Smith family for support, and now he had suddenly become a billionaire.
No one believed that the check was fake, and Alvin, who was still kneeling on the ground, was the best proof.
However, the real surprise had yet to come!
Jonathan glanced at the check nonchalantly, then handed it over to Josephine.
“Since you don't want any gifts, I'll give you this one billion. Consider it as my way of making up for what I've owed you these past three years.”
Casually, Jonathan gave away one billion without a second thought.
In an instant, the entire place fell into silence.
