Chapter 8

Sir Bernard was too shocked to react; he couldn't believe Damien's words. Before he could stop Damien, he agreed with Mr. Raymond. He finally believed Damien was on a mission to destroy their family. He used to be scared like a chicken, but he challenges everybody now. Dennis uttered. "Terry, you and your family are on your own. Your son-in-law, made the deal; father didn't say anything, so your family is going to be the ones to pay the double fee." He faces his father. Father, don't worry. Terry will take responsibility for not being able to contain this animal. Sir Bernard nods slowly; he doesn't know what else to say. He faced Terry and said "Go face your problem. I don't want to see you in this house again." The family left immediately after Sir Bernard finished his words; there is no need to argue with Damien. He will handle the bills when the time comes. Terry faces Damien speechless, "I swear, I am going to kill you." He rushes to his family to beg them for Mercy. He faced Megan with a smile, but he received a shocking slap on the face. "How dare you make decisions for me and my family? What is wrong with you? Just because I am pregnant for you doesn't mean you're untouchable." Damien's eyebrows were pushed down. She doesn't appreciate his efforts; he wishes he could leave her behind. If not for his child, he won't care what happened to Megan. "So I should allow you to take my child to another man. That old man, Did you even have a choice? Would you have been able to hold your ground?" "I—" "The pushovers, they will surely push you to do their bids, and you gladly jump to it." Megan was shocked by Damien's words. He hasn't talked to her this way before; in fact, he doesn't talk this way. What happened? Did his mother die? "Who sent you to this family, where you were hired to ruin our lives?" Damien tricked her and spiked her wine; now he is part of the family, and with the way he has been talking, there is no way he is innocent of the crime. "I have always known you were lying, you—" Damian cut her off "Did you ever care to listen to me once? Why would I want this kind of life when I was living freely before?" Damien steps closer to Megan. He holds her arms. Megan tried to resist, but she was powerless. "listen!!" Damien gains Megan's attention. "I have given you a choice; you either accept to try your luck or get pushed by your family as always. It's your choice, Megan. I believe you can win the contract back; that's why I made the bet." Megan's cheeks redden; she hasn't felt anything for Damien before, but today he was something else, and his words touch her heart. "How is your mother?" Damien let go of Megan. They haven't talked this way before, and although he doesn't like Megan, she is undoubtedly the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. He just wants to help her reclaim her position, and he doesn't want anyone to bully the mother of his child. "She is fine." Damien takes a step back. "I will try to get the contract back. It's the only way out." "Yeah. I know you can do it." Damien wanted to continue when Terry burst out of the door. He came with Dorris. They match Demian with fearless fists. "you moron. I am going to bash your head away." Mr. Terry hotfooted it to Damien. He raised his hands to slap, but Damien dodged, and the action made him lose balance. He falls to the ground without control. "Bastard! You're a bastard!" Dorris eyes sparkled when she saw her husband on the floor. She moved to slap Demian, but his deadly words stopped her. "Don't even dare!" Dorris felt a chill in her spine; she couldn't believe she was scared of this worthless human being. They are supposed to be in control; how has Damien suddenly become a god? "So you have been lying; this has been your plan all along to marry into this family and destroy it." Damien hated the first words; it shows they knew he was telling the truth, but because of the anger, they made such a decision. Whoever did this wanted to ruin Megan's life completely. He wanted somebody they could push around, but the table has changed now. He is going to be the one pushing them; they are lucky he needs to hide his identity. He would've done more than this childish display. "I am going home. I am tired of this. Megan, see you at the house. Damien walked away. "You!" Terry points at him as Megan helps him up. "I don't want to see you in that house. I swear I will break your bones if I see you there." "You won't do anything. I am your son-in-law." Damien's voice was heard from some distance away. Mr. Terry screamed. "Bastard!!!" as Damien walks away ** Megan left the house early; she doesn't know what she is doing, but Damien's words kept ringing inside her. What if she wins Mr. Raymond's contract back? She never cared for Damien; she hated him for ruining her life, but sometimes she believed he was innocent. Someone must have arranged her downfall; Damien was unlucky to be used for it. She wishes she could believe that, but whenever she sees him, she just gets angry, maybe because he took her virginity and got her pregnant, and she sees no future with him. Megan was surprised to be allowed inside Globex Corporation; she waited in the guest room. She hasn't even spent up to five minutes when the door opens. "Megan Bernard. The director would like to see you. follow me" Megan follows the lady. She was surprised things were moving smoothly; she expected some security men to come kick her out, but the director wants to see her. "Mrs. Evelyn, thank you for having me." Megan bows 90 degrees. "Are you here for your family contract or something else?" Director Evelyn's frightened voice was heard. "no...no..no. I'm here to plead for Mr. Raymond's contract; he didn't try to help us. He just" Megan didn't know what to say. She came up with a perfect lie and explained why Mr. Raymond's contract is meaningful to the Globex Corporation. "Do you have anything to say?" "Can you please read what I wrote down? I believe Mr. Raymond's project is worth spending every penny on; it's going to bring massive profit to Globex." Megan dropped the documents on director Evelyn's desk. She rushes back to the middle again. Evelyn pretends to be reading the articles Megan wrote down. She already knows Mr. Raymond's project is worth spending on; Globex doesn't invest in trash projects, but they can also make the project useless if they pull out. "I have seen your main points, Mrs. Megan. go home. Mr. Raymond's contract has been given back to him." Megan's heart skipped; she couldn't believe her words, just like that. She knows she wrote a solid reason, but Globex Corporation knows that already. "Thank you, Mrs. Evelyn." Megan bows 90 degrees to the left. She wanted to ask about theirs, but she dare not voice it out; seeing director Evelyn's face alone was deadly, let alone asking for something she personally came to their house to announce. Megan came out of the building; she doesn't know who to call about this wonderful news. She brought her phone, staring at the number. She remembered she has damien number. "Damien. I got the contract. You... you... you were correct." "I knew you could pull it off." "I am heading to my grandfather's house. Come with my parents." Megan ends the call. She initially wanted to thank Damien, but she couldn't bring herself to say the words. She arrived at the family house, and Mr. Raymond was already waiting for her.
