A few nights later I woke up with a start and a fierce cramp in my leg. The muscles in my damaged calf were screaming at me to wake up. I reached down and tried to massage the cramp out but my leg was having none of it. Finally, I stood and started to hobble around. Experience has taught me that for my leg sometimes walking on it was the only remedy.
The clock told me I'd only been asleep a couple of hours but the house was dark. I limped around the room for a bit as the muscles started to relax. After a few minutes the cramps subsided and a rush of relief flooded my leg.
