Chapter 1 New bundle of joy

Ciara's p.o.v "push harder ma'am....the head is almost showing....you are almost there....please don't give up now...keep pushing." the midwife said. I was profusely sweating and i was really tired cause i have been pushing for the last fifteen minutes but still i can't give up now just like she said cause i need to be there for my little Angel who needs to come out. I took in a few breaths and started pushing again. "yes ma'am that's it...you are doing perfectly fine...keep going." she said again. I did as she said and when the head came out,i went ahead to push more and when it was finally out,i heard the midwife say, "congratulations ma'am it's a baby boy...ma'am ma'am ma'am." she started shaking me but I l had already collapsed. They put me on life support and i don't know for how long i have been unconscious but when i opened my eyes i saw a nurse feeding my baby and when she saw me,she couldn't believe it. "ma'am good to have you back...how are you feeling now??" she asked me. I had no energy to reply but i just gave her a faint smile. "ohh am so sorry ma'am,I l know it's not right to make you talk right now...please take rest...let me inform the doctor that you have woken up." she said with a big smile. She placed my baby boy in his tiny bed beside mine and she walked out of the room. I wanted to get up and carry my Angel in my hands and we feel each other but I was so weak so i just stayed like that laying on the bed. A few minutes later the doctor walked in and examined me. "how lo long hav have i been...?" i was trying to ask him when he replied me even before completing the question. "four days ma'am...please don't stress yourself good enough you have finally woken up...just take some rest." he replied. I squeezed my lips together and he went ahead to check on the baby aswell. "uhm but i have one quick question ma'am...don't you have anyone to cater for you? like you have been unconscious for all those days but no one came to check on you or to be here for you...where's your husband?" he asked me. A tear left my eye after hearing his question and i can't believe he didn't bother to come and be here with me in this moment...i wish i can break it down for doctor but am not that kind who opens up freely to people. Despite our differences in our marriage,i really thought he would put all that aside and stand by me in this period but it's so absurd that he chose to let me go through all this alone. "ma'am am really sorry i shouldn't have asked you about this...am so sorry." the doctor said. I slowly lifted my hand and cleaned tears from my face. "uhm after examining you,now am going to remove you from the oxygen since you are stable now." doc said. He did his thing and i put my eyes on my baby boy who was in deep sleep and i don't know how am going to manage by myself in this situation but nomatter what,i had to save my day just like before. "ma'am i will be leaving now and if you need anything you press on that button over there and i'll come right away." he said. I just nodded my head and he gave me a warm smile. "ohh another thing...since it's your first child,when he wakes up,please still press that button so that we come and assist you in breastfeeding him." he said. "okay doc." i managed to utter some words. This doctor was so nice...he left the room and now i didn't know what to do next and i just stayed laying there while looking at my baby. I don't know how life is going to be after leaving this place cause i still can't believe am all alone. I don't know when i fell asleep but i was woken up by my baby's crying voice. I stretched my hand and pressed the button which doctor had instructed me earlier and he came in the room just after some five minutes with some nurse and he carried the baby from the bed and placed him in my hands. The nurse assisted me in feeding my Angel though it was really hard since the nipple was not yet out and he couldn't get hold of it in his tiny mouth...we were still busy with that when we heard a knock on the door and doctor went to see who it was. "yes how can we help you??" doc asked the person standing behind the door. "Am here to see my wife and my newly born baby." he replied. After hearing these words,i definitely knew who was standing outside the door and i nearly dropped my baby cause i couldn't believe my ears that he is here at this moment cause he was the last person i expected to be here with us but surprisingly he is here now. Now what the hell is he doing here right now huh!?? if he didn't manage to be with me for the past four days,then why would he bother to come right now!?? so many questions were running in my mind right now. "ohhh am sorry sir...please come in...congratulations by the way...you have a baby boy." doc told me while opening the door wide and he stepped inside the room. "ma'am incase of anything please you let us know....we shall be leaving now."doc said while looking at me before leaving. The nurse put back the baby in his bed before they left and now we were left alone with my husband. No one wanted to initiate the talk so there was total silence till he broke it by saying, "congratulations Ciara...thanks for enduring the pain."
