CHAPTER 6 She Owes You a Life. That's all.

'Jack, please, trust me…" Stephanie sobbed at the edge of suffocation. Blood's still trickling, drop by drop, down to the carpet by the bed. This time, Jack was really flustered. He dashed out of the bedroom with Stephanie in his arms and made his way to the hospital. 'I want both of them alive. Otherwise all of you will go with them!" While Jack passed the woman to the doctors, he growled furiously. Later, Liz arrived. Jack's words blew up her mind. For her, Jack had always been ruthless and would never do this much for a woman. She clenched her fists and hated Stephanie even more. Jack didn't know Stephanie could do such bold things. How could she… Jack sat on the ice-old bench in the hospital. The operation seemed to last forever. Liz came over. 'Jack. The baby will be alright." She hugged Jack and comforted him softly. Steve, she will be okay, right? She owes you much… Jack clenched his fists angrily. After a few hours, the doctor came out with face full of sweat. 'The child is safe, but the patient is very weak. Take good care of her. Don't irritate her more. Perhaps we will be unable to save the child next time. The patient should wake up soon. You may go see her now." The child is safe… Jack breathed a sigh of relief. 'Got it." He looked at the doctor. Liz clenched her hands. The kid was safe, but she wouldn't allow anyone to bear a child of Jack, especially Stephanie. 'Let's go, Jack." Liz took Jack's arm. 'You haven't eaten for a long time. Let's go eat something." Jack took his hands back. 'Liz, I worry about the child." He looked at her decadently. Liz gave a lovely smile in return. 'Then we will go see the child first. But you should know perhaps it was a mere accident. Don't blame her, okay?" 'Sure." Jack looked at her face and touched her head. 'Let's go, Jack." She snickered and said, gripping Jack's hand. Jack didn't say a word when he took his hands back and signaled Liz to come in, which made Liz hated Stephanie more. She suppressed the anger and went in with a smile. Stephanie was sitting on the bed. Sunlight poured onto her hair and nose. She seemed peaceful and glorious, like an angel. 'Steph, we are here!" Liz called her sweetly. Stephanie turned around slowly and stared at Liz's eyes. 'I don't need your pretended care. Leave." She responded coldly. 'Don't be so cold, Steph. Jack's often busy. I just want to look after you for him." Liz said with a smile. The sunlight made her face look kind, but her words scared Stephanie. Stephanie trembled out of anger. She looked at Jack, trying to convince him. 'Jack, she did all this. Trust me." 'Stop it, Steph!" Jack turned his head away in scorn. Right after he slammed the door and left. After Jack left, Liz sneered at Stephanie. 'Stephanie, I can't believe you and your baby made it through." She remained her sweet tone, but her voice sent deep chills to Stephanie. Looking at the empty ward, Stephanie could no longer suppress her fear. Liz took her some food, but she didn't eat and curled up herself instead. Liz merely looked at her and didn't say anything more. The more helpless she was, the happier she got. Jack returned to the house. The carpet had been changed to a new one, but it still reminded him of her terrified face and stopped him from falling asleep. Night fell. He went to the hospital. Stephanie was alone in her ward, trembling on the bed. He came over subconsciously, trying to give her a hug. He was scared by his own thought. Steve, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have these feelings towards her. She owes you a life. That's all… The thought enraged Jack, however. How dared she try to kill the child. 'Stephanie!" Stephanie's body shook. She raised her head and looked at Jack with tears in eyes, looking so vulnerable. 'This should not happen again! Or you will know the consequence!"His tone was cold as usual and froze her heart. Her sight dropped disappointedly. 'Okay. But Jack, It wasn't me!" Meanwhile, Liz appeared at the door. Obviously she underestimated what Stephanie meant to Jack. 'Jack, why are you here?" 'I am here to bring you home." Jack took Liz's hands right away and left the room, which relieved Stephanie a lot.
