And I stood there watching his back as he disappeared into a separate room. Yes, he started sleeping in a different room ten years ago when I first caught him red-handed shattering whatever respect I had for him. But tonight I'm going truly to bed thinking about my plans for the future. The next morning I woke up early just like Giovanni. He is amazed at my zeal because usually, I wouldn't get out of bed until one o'clock in the afternoon. Anyway, I get up, prepare him some breakfast and then accompany him to the door. I hand him his briefcase, waving goodbye. He is, as always, flattered. I take the opportunity to ask him what time he intends to return. And he, undermining my intentions, answers '8 p.m'. I smile replying, 'fine', kissing him on the mouth to avoid suspicion. I endure the kiss and watch him leave. Finally, I put on my jazz record and drink my coffee.
