Chapter 19 Plumbing deeper(1)

Let me introduce myself. I am Juliette, a middle-aged woman currently in my late 30s, married to a horrible man. My mother was French and named me Juliette because it sounded eligible and rich. I had a weird relationship with her. You know, just to say that she was money-obsessed would be an understatement. I grew up believing that money is all you need to be happy and my mother, Maureen, really felt the lack of it would make us cheap and dirty. So you get the picture, I just hate my life.  She always sought the best things in life: a massive house, expensive designer clothes, and paradise beach vacations. That's all she ever wanted. It actually made her extremely happy. And as a child, completely devoted to my mum, I wanted the same too as I thought this was how life should be led. I followed her like a lost puppy in every decision she ever made for me. I felt happy obeying, obliging the choices that she made for me. She remarried twice when I was a child, but as I came to discover later she was broke. To top it all, every single dollar supposed to be saved for my education was spent on maintaining her pretentious life.
