Chapter 3 You Are My Luna
Vincent's POV:
"Did you find her?" I asked, leaning back on the couch with a lazy smirk, glancing at my assistant.
"Yes, Alpha. The same girl you met at the human nightclub five years ago just sold the watch you left her at a secondhand shop," he replied, his voice laced with respect.
After years of chasing shadows, we had finally found something solid. The tension in my chest eased slightly.
"We're finally going to see her again!" Adam, my wolf, stirred restlessly inside me, excitement buzzing through his voice.
"Definitely. You saw her too—our destined mate. From now on, I won't let her out of my sight!" I smiled, doing my best to comfort Adam.
My thoughts drifted to the past ...
Five years ago, that night, I was poisoned by a rival fighting for the Alpha King's throne. By some twist of fate, I ended up taking the place of a witch's descendant and hiding on a private yacht.
Under the influence of the aphrodisiac, Adam inhaled a sweet fragrance as he stood by the door.
"She's our mate! I have to be with her now!" Adam's desire surged within me. Acting on his instincts, I opened the door. In the darkness, her face remained hidden, but I lost all control and took her as mine.
Thank heavens for that girl—she used herself to save me from the poison. Her scent was overwhelmingly sweet.
But time was pressing, and I had to leave in haste, leaving behind only a watch as a small token ...
"Alpha, what's our next move?" My assistant's voice snapped me back to reality.
"Find her. Now," I commanded.
...
"Vincent, you have to marry Chloe, the eldest daughter of the Thunder Pack's alpha. She's the only one I'll approve as Luna!" While I was still lost in thoughts about that girl, my grandmother's words suddenly rang in my ears.
Initially, I couldn't grasp why she wanted me to marry someone without a wolf.
Later, she clarified that Eugenia's beta lineage was from one of the oldest families.
According to the Moon Goddess, the offspring born from the union of the pack leader and this ancient bloodline would remain the strongest for generations.
Generations of women in that family had made ideal Lunas, and Chloe, as the only one left, was meant for me.
Our children will perfectly inherit all our strengths, and in the future, they'll smoothly take over my Alpha King position, ensuring the lasting prosperity of the Evans and aiding the further development of our wolf pack.
I couldn't help but question it. If Eugenia's beta bloodline was so strong, then why didn't Chloe have a wolf?
There had to be something more to this situation.
Five years ago, Chloe was exiled by her father, the alpha of the Thunder Pack.
Stripped of her title as heir for lacking a wolf, she became a lone wolf, yet somehow, she managed to survive.
Not long ago, following my grandmother's advice, I used my authority as Alpha King to override the Thunder Pack alpha's order and allowed Chloe to return to the pack.
I was genuinely curious to meet her when she returned ...
My phone rang, interrupting my thoughts. I answered immediately. "Hello?"
"Alpha, we've identified the girl. Her name is Shania, and she's the one who sold the watch."
"Send me her location. I'll handle this personally." A wave of passion rushed through me—my fated mate was finally here, and I couldn't waste any time finding her.
I was determined to repay the debt from that night.
I stepped into the women's clothing store, following my assistant.
"Are you Shania?" I asked, my gaze fixed on the small woman in front of me, hoping to catch a glimpse of the girl from five years ago.
However, as I examined her closely, I couldn't tell if she was the one.
"Yes ... Are you the Alpha King?" She gasped in recognition, her eyes wide with awe, her voice filled with respect but wavering slightly.
I pulled out the watch and showed it to her. "Has this always been with you?"
Shania glanced at it, looking nervous, then gave a quick nod. "Y-Yeah. It's mine."
"Five years ago, were you the one in the second-floor suite on the Royal private yacht?" I asked, my gaze fixed on her in disbelief. Could it really have been her that night?
She looked straight at me. "Yes, Alpha. That was me."
I woke Adam, who had been silent for days, and asked, "Is this girl our fated mate?"
He sprang to life, growling with hunger. "It's her! I know that scent anywhere! Let's go to her!"
But something felt off. She didn't bring me the same calm and comfort I remembered from that night.
Adam had already recognized her scent as the same as the one from that night. No one else could have the exact same scent—unless it had been artificially created.
As I moved closer, Adam's eager response made me start to believe that she was truly the one.
Maybe five years had changed her more than I realized.
"Take care of this watch. Don't ever sell it again. I'll make things right for what happened that night." I relaxed, dropping the strictness of my Alpha King persona. Moving closer, I gently placed the watch into her hand. "Make sure you remember my name. I'm Vincent Evans."
"I... I know who you are. You're the Alpha King—respected by every pack in the region. I've heard the stories." She stared at me in disbelief, her face so pale and stunned I thought she might collapse.
Noticing the nearby beta women bowing and glancing at me, I immediately understood.
With my looks and status as Alpha King, my assistant once shared that many she-wolves from all over longed to be my Luna.
Yet, my heart had always been reserved for my fated mate.
And now, I had finally found her.
"You are my destined one. From this moment forward, I will protect you and never let you go!" I said, setting aside any lingering doubt as I carefully embraced Shania, making my vow.
