Chapter 22

/DIDINA/ Sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting soft patterns on the bedroom wall. I stirred awake, blinking against the brightness. It took me a moment to realise I was alone in bed, the other side of the sheets cold and untouched. A frown creased my forehead as I sat up, glancing around the room. Bryan must have left early for work, I thought to myself, feeling a pang of disappointment. I had hoped he would still be here, that I could steal a few more moments in his comforting embrace.
