Chapter 3
/–Didina–/
I watched as he left the room with the doctors, closing the glassy door behind. "Ma, we need to get you dressed," I heard a voice and glanced up at the maids.
"Please excuse me. I don't feel comfortable when people dress for me," I said, and the maids exchanged a puzzled glance before leaving the room.
I held the bed for support as I stood straight gazing at the dress. I glanced around the room to see some medical machines centered around the bed.
This must be where I was treated for six months while I was in an OMA. I got a hold of the long iron rod where a medical sachet of liquid was hung on it. I used the rod for support as I took a look around the room.
I opened the black door in the room and found myself in a large dressing room that could be mistaken as a boutique.
The dressing room has a lot of clothes for both men and women, different types of shoes, wristwatches, and many more luxurious stuffs.
Clothes from popular brands like Louis Vuitton, Versace, Dior, Celine, Chanel and many more. Seeing this, I could sell this and use this to start up my own name.
'Don't tell me you want to steal from him,’ I heard a tiny voice in my head and shook my head negatively.
"I just want to borrow it; I'll pay him back," I hurried to lock the door and started packing all the luxuries wrist, watches, rings, necklaces, and clothes, packing them inside a big bag as I carried and rushed out of the room.
I got outside the room and met the maids waiting for me. "Ma-" I dashed off, dropping the iron rod on the floor as I began to use the wall for support since I could barely walk after being bedridden for six months.
Getting' outside the house, I flagged down a taxi immediately and hopped inside it.
"Allen Avenue, house 6," I told the driver, and he nodded as he began driving. I glanced back to see no one chasing after me.
What's wrong? Was I lucky to steal from him without being chased? Why did the maid suddenly stop chasing after me?
I didn't mean to steal from him, I'm lending some money, and I'll pay him once I earn enough.
An hour later, the cab pulled in front of Grandma Leslie, and they got out of the cab, landing on the floor with the bag.
"Didina," I heard a familiar voice, the voice I always wanted to hear.
Grandma Leslie.
She approached me immediately, and pulled me in a warm hug, crying loudly. I could imagine how devastated she would have been when she did not see me. And how glad she's to see me again.
"My daughter, what happened to you? Nolan told me you were dead. Did he lie to me? I'm glad you are alive," She whispered, sobbing in her arms. My eyes grew misty as I burst into loud tears.
"I'm sorry," I whimpered.
"No, I'm sorry for being good enough," She gazed at me, cleaning the tears on my cheeks. "Let's go inside, I'll prepare your favorite meal for you,"
"I can't walk well," I said, gazing at her, and she glanced at my legs immediately. "I'm yet to settle the cab man," I pointed at the cab man who was staring at us smiling.
"Oh, my baby," Grandma Leslie said, and helped me stand on my feet, carrying my bag.
"I'm sorry," she said and paid the cab man, who just smiled. "It's nothing, Granny," The cab man drove away, and I held onto Grandma Leslie's arm as we went inside.
She locked the door and shut the curtains as she took me to my old bedroom. She made me sit on the bed.
"What happened to you, Didina?" She asked, glancing at the hospital gown I was wearing.
"Someone saved me," I mumbled and explained everything that happened without mentioning that I stole from the young handsome man. If she knew about it, she would be against it and would order me to return the stolen goods even if I don't know his home or his name.
"You need to change your clothes and rest," she said, and I nodded, smiling.
~ SIX MONTHS LATER.
I stood in front of the mirror as I gazed at my reflection. My brown hair cascaded over my shoulder. I look beautiful.
The sound of my phone ringing brought me back from the reverie I had trapped myself in.
I brought out my phone from my bag and picked up the call. "Rhonda,"
"Good morning ma. The investors are in the office, and they are waiting for you in the meeting room"
Oh, fuck how could I forget I have a meeting this morning. With the luxurious goods I stole from the handsome young man, I sold the goods and used the money to start up a business company, which is doing pretty well.
I hurriedly took my bag and rushed out of the room, heading downstairs to meet Grandma Leslie and set the dining table.
"Grandma, I'll be skipping breakfast today," I said, and she hurriedly went to the kitchen and came back with a lunch box.
"Didi, I know you are going to say that, so I already arranged your lunch box for you in advance," she said, placing the lunch box in my hand.
"Thank you, Granny," I hugged and kissed her cheek.
"I'll be heading to the warehouse to check the goods that were distributed yesterday,"
"Let me know how it goes, and if you need anything, please let me," I said and hurried out of the house.
I hopped inside my car and drove out of the garage, heading straight to my company. Minutes later, I arrived at my company and hopped out of the car.
"Good day Ma," The security man greeted me, and I smiled in response.
"Morning, park the car and give the key to my assistant," I stated, handing the car key over to him as I went inside my company.
As I walked through the lobby, all the employees around started giving me some respect. I took the elevator and went straight to the meeting room. I saw Rhonda at the door, pacing around.
"I got hooked on traffic," I said, immediately handing my bag over to her.
"I told them you had an important meeting to attend," Rhonda stated, and I nodded entering the meeting room.
"I'm sorry for the delay. Good morning, I'm Didina Bowman, let's start the meeting," I said, taking a seat.
The meeting began, which lasted for one hour, and as soon as the meeting ended, the investors left the meeting room with a satisfactory look.
"Ma, you have another meeting with a client,"
"Check the designs of the clothes and be sure it's not similar to other brands. This is a fashion company, and we have high-quality clothes and luxurious items. The new design of the bag we want to launch is out, so check that out," I said, and she nodded, taking note of every word, I said, as she followed me to my office door and hurried to do the task I gave her.
I got inside my office and saw the last person I expected to see. "What are you doing here?" I questioned, gazing at her.
"Come on, aren't you glad to see me?"
"And why should I be glad, Hera?" I questioned, scoffing at her insolent attitude.
She still has that pride within her.
"I guess having this small company made you forget yourself. I thought you were dead a year ago,"
"Hera, are you here for business? Seeing that I'm alive does my existence now pose a threat to you?" I questioned, wearing a displeased look on my face.
She cackled and then approached me, bringing her lips closer to my ear.
"Shut your brand up,”
