Chapter 2

I heard distant voices, and my eyes fluttered open as the light shone on my eyes, almost blinding me. "She's awake," I let out a soft wince feeling a sudden pang of headache. I blinked my eyelashes to clear my vision, and the faces gazing at me became clear. "Where am I?" I asked, my voice coming out low, more like in the form of a whisper. "I'm glad you are awake," I heard an unfamiliar voice, and my head tilted in the direction of the voice to see a handsome young man gazing at me. "Where am I?" I asked, again trying to stand up but feeling weak with my body giving the signs of being paralyzed. "Don't try to stand up; you're yet to heal," I heard one of the doctors in the room say. "Am I paralyzed?" I asked, weakly. "No, the reason why your body feels like it's been paralyzed is because you were in a coma for six months." My eyes widened at his words. Coma? For six-months? I did not die? "Doctor, what are you talking about?" I questioned, getting confused by his words. "You were declared dead and were about to be taken to the mortuary when you miraculously woke up but fell into a man. It's still like a drama to us, you are indeed a miracle," I felt my head spinning more, everything becoming blurry in my eyes. What is he talking about? What does it mean I was dead? I did not die. I looked at the doctors in confusion. "Don't stress yourself; I understand you are confused. Don't worry everything is under control," "What of Nolan? What about Hera?" I asked, and the doctors in the room exchanged a confused glance. "Who's Nolan, and who's Hera?" "My husband, where's he? Did my sister later come back?" I asked, gazing at their faces. The handsome young man just stood still at the corner of the room gazing at me intensely as if I was some kind of a movie to him. "No one came to ask of you." A doctor said, "When you were declared dead, a woman called to ask if you were dead? And we will let her know that you are dead. We called your husband, No, Lan, right? He wasn't picking' up our calls," Another doctor chipped in. "Should we call him?" "No, no, no, don't call him, don't call anybody," I said, shaking my head in disapproval at their statement. The way Nolan and Hera looked at me in disdain was still vivid and clear in my head. I can't seem to get those scumbags faces off my head. "You said I died, how? And this room doesn't look like a hospital ward; where am I?" I asked the only thing I could remember was falling unconscious after regretting my actions. I thought being humble would bring me good things; instead, it brought several humiliations and death traps to my doorstep. "I found you at the brink of your death and transferred you to a different doctor who tried to stop the bleeding while searching various blood banks for your blood type, which is O+ positive. All hospitals kept giving us negative responses, so I had to transfer blood, but you stopped responding," The handsome young man explained. I felt mixed emotions. Someone who doesn't know me tried to save me; he donated blood to me, something my husband refused to do for me. Even if my husband decided to act ruthless, should my sister follow in his footsteps by refusing to donate blood to me when she's O+ positive too? I risk everything for my family and what they can use to pay me back is bad deeds. It feels like something pierces my heart at the thought of my sister and my husband. "He's a universal, O- negative. And this is his home. You were brought here from the hospital because your influential mother came to the hospital, searching the whole hospital to be sure you were truly dead," The doctor added. So, my mother also wants me dead. She made it very obvious that Hera is her favorite but I don't expect her to hate me to the extent of wishing death. I'm sure Hera felt threatened by my existence and wants to confirm if truly I was erased from existence. "Are you crying?" Another doctor asked, interrupting my thoughts and I sniffed, cleaning my tears. "Thank you, thank you for not allowing me to die. I truly appreciate it, I'm grateful," I whimpered, and I could see a smile playing at the corner of his lips. "Did they know that I'm alive?" I asked, cleaning my tears. "Not at all. Your family told us to burn your body and discard the ashes," I looked away, twitching my lips. So, I'm worthless to my family. Getting back to my biological parents was the biggest mistake I have ever made. I should have stayed with Granny Leslie who showered love to me. I felt she believed I should reconnect with my biological parents, but instead, I met a girl around my age whom they adopted. She's the apple of their eyes, and I was her shadow, the blame for whatever sin she committed. "I came across an elderly woman yesterday. She has been coming to the hospital for weeks searching for you, and I wasn't aware about that," Grandma Leslie! I need to see her; I should go back to her, someone who appreciates me and knows my true worth even when I'm not related to her in any way. When I was lost with zero memories, she was the one who found me, gave me the name 'Didina', and took me in. She lost her daughter and grandson in a car accident. "I need to leave," I uttered. "No, you can't leave yet," I removed the needle pierced to my skin and moved my feet to the floor. I tried standing but ended up falling and the doctors gasped, rushing to my side. "Miss Didina," "I'm fine, please I need to meet my grandma," I begged, gazing at them. "I'll take you to your grandma," I heard the handsome young man say, and my face lit with happiness. He left the room and came back with some maids behind him. "You wouldn't want to see your grandma like that," I glanced at my clothes and I was wearing a hospital uniform. I smiled, nodding at him. /-Bryan-/ I was excused from the room with the doctors. "Thank you for your hard work," I appreciated and shook hands with the doctors. "Anything for you, Mr. Remington," Doctor Nelson said, and I cackled. "I'll be heading back to India. I came to London because of your patient, and now that she's awake and hale, I'll take my leave now," Doctor Mara said, giving me a warm hug, which I reciprocated, and then watched as the doctors left. Andrew approached me. "Sir you have a meeting with the investors," "Change the time of the meeting to the next three hours," I ordered, glancing at the glassy door of the room I came out from. "Yes sir," Minutes later, I glanced at the glassy door of the room and watched as she ran out of the room holding a bag, holding the wall for support as she ran. A necklace fell from the bag she was holding "Sir, she's stealing your pieces of jewelry," I watched her struggle to run, still holding the wall for support. "Gu....," "Let her go," I interrupted, smiling in amusement, and his jaw dropped.
