Chapter 35 Arthur’s Possessiveness
However, Erin did not view herself as an unlucky child—in fact, being adopted by Arthur and brought home to the Harrison Family was the luckiest thing that she had ever encountered in her life. It was true that he pampered and cared for her; he took extremely good care of her and fulfilled all of her requests. She was able to feel the warmth of being in a family to a point where she sometimes forgot that she was an adopted child in the Harrison Family and that she was an orphan. Yet, she had never once neglected her goals and life just because of how much he spoiled and pampered her. She was not exactly a smart child, but she believed that she could just work extra hard to compensate for her abilities. She believed that anything was possible as long as one was willing to put in the effort.
Although the Harrison Family was a strong and powerful backbone for her, she never once allowed herself to be too comfortable—she maintained her academic results in the top few places for her entire year. Since someone gave me such a great learning and living environment, I have to cherish it and put it to good use, right? However, the glimmering halo that surrounded the status of the Harrisons was simply too blinding; it caused others to forget the individual efforts and work that one had exercised. This is reality. I guess there’s no reason for me to be bothered by it.
