Chapter 17 If You Do It Again
It took Erin four hours to write her reflective report, but Arthur had finished reading it in just four minutes. She quickly slapped her palms to make a praying gesture once he looked up from the sheets of paper. Her dark pupils were like round, shiny marbles as she gazed at him hopefully. “Aren’t your hands sore?” he asked. She wasn’t surprised by the question, but she froze on the spot as she didn’t know what to say.
Arthur frowned slightly as he lowered his gaze and glared at Erin’s right hand. After gripping onto a pen for four hours, there was now a slight dent at the tip of her index finger where she had been applying pressure as she was writing. He reached his hand out and held onto her right hand before he led her over to the bed. He then placed the reflective report aside before he lowered his head and began to gently massage the joints around Erin’s index finger with his thumb and finger. Erin lowered her gaze to glance at Arthur, who was looking down as he massaged her hand. His jet-black eyelashes were long and gentle; it was the complete opposite of his cold, hard personality. Erin found herself mesmerized as she continued to gaze at him. She didn’t even realize when he had lifted his head and looked into her eyes.
