Chapter 11
Katia pov
It’s so dark. Is this what death is like? It was so quiet and no pain. I see my mama and my daddy. I’m so little, just barely able to walk. We are in the middle of the woods, in a clearing. There is a blanket and a picnic basket. They’re tickling me, and I’m giggling. But wait, those aren’t my parents, not the ones I knew. I know that they are my parents though. I don’t know how but I know.
Mama is cooing at me, “Katia, my beautiful daughter, you are so special. The goddess visited me when you lived in mama’s tummy and told me so. I love you so much, my precious baby.”
It’s dark again and so peaceful. I want to stay in the darkness. I want to be with mama and daddy again.
Wait, I see Mama again. She’s lying on the ground with me against her chest. Blood is everywhere. Mama is bleeding from her throat. Baby me is bleeding from a wound on my chest. Where is Daddy?
Oh, I see him. He’s on the ground, he’s not moving. He is just staring. His lifeless body is not far from Mama and me. What happened? Who wanted to do this to us? How did I end up with the parents, I remember? How did I survive?
The darkness overtakes me again, and once again, all is quiet. My racing heart and thoughts calm. I like it here where I feel nothing. I don’t think it will last long, though.
A beautiful lady with long white, blond hair and black, purple eyes is holding me. “Shh, sweet Katia, all will be well. Your mama and daddy dwell with me now. You will see them again. This was not the plan. They were to see that you would reach adulthood, my precious girl. Someone figured out who you are and tried to hurt me through you.” She continues speaking to me as she puts her hand on my chest. Her hand begins to glow, and the claw wound on my chest heals.
Darkness takes me once again. I sleep in complete peace. When I awake, I’m with the beautiful lady again.
We walk through the forest, I spot a baby rabbit, and my little body starts to grow patches of fur, “No, no, no, little one no changing into your wolf yet. You are too young to do so, and your wolf needs to grow. You are a strong girl to bring forth your wolf at such a young age.”
I smiled up at her with an almost toothless grin. Clapping my hands, I toddle towards her, saying, “no, no, no.”
Laughing, the lady bends down and picks me up. “Child you are dear to my heart. You have a very special soul. You cannot stay with me, though. You must live in a pack and grow up. I will visit you again, child.”
She carries me to the outskirts of the Night Shade pack. “Okay sweet one, I must leave you here. The packs warrior will be along shortly on patrol. Someone will take you in and love you. I will see you again, my angel.”
She set me on the ground, kisses me and disappears. I started to cry, and wolves came rushing through the tree line.
Once again, I am in the darkness, but I hear a familiar voice “Girly! We’re okay. I don’t know where we are, but I like it here. We don’t hurt, and you aren’t scared anymore.”
“Wolfie! I found you. I heard you calling, and I came to you. I like it here too. I don’t want to see any more of my life, though. I pretty much know the rest up until now.”
“Girly, the lady had eyes like yours. She says I am a good wolfie to you. She is very proud of how I protected you. I wonder what it means you both have the same eyes.”
“I don’t know, but I know she loves us. I could feel her love from the memory. She really didn’t want to leave us.”
“Katia, little Luna, come back to us. We are here waiting for you.” I can hear Kelp talking to me.
“Girly, Xey is talking to us too!”
“Come on, little ghost, we have a plan to get you out of the dungeons. You must wake up first.”
“What do you think, Wolfie? They want us to go back. If we go, we face more pain from the Alpha. His punishments will be severe.”
“They said they have a plan, though. What about our fated mate? He will find us, love us, and take care of us.”
“We have to get out the dungeons for him to find us.”
“I like it here, but I think the lady would want us to go back.”
“Yeah, I figured that too.”
The darkness is fading, but this time, no memories appear. This time, the pain crawled back into my body. My head hurts, my throat hurts, my chest, my arms, and legs. I don’t think one area of my body doesn’t hurt. I can hear the beeping of a machine and I hear a different machine making a swishing noise. Suddenly., the fear is back, and I start to panic, “Aza you’re coming back with me, right?”
“You know it girly! I would never leave you by yourself. I am going to be weak. We are still young I still need to grow and mature, but I will be there with you.”
