Chapter 8 Losing Consciousness
ELISA'S POV
The introduction was shorter than expected, dad merely just told the board I will be stepping up as the CEO soon and then dismissed me saying I wasn't qualified to be in their meetings yet.
On a normal day I would have argued with him but since I still had Derrick to deal with, I just walked out and headed over to his place instantly.
The moment he opened the door, I shoved the papers in his face, "The divorce papers." I stated coldly but he just stared at me shocked.
It was then I caught sight of the hickeys on his body making me wrinkle my nose, what a pathetic bastard.
"Let's go in and discuss this." He offered with a surprisingly calm voice which made me stunned, Derrick was never the rational type, that aside why does he still want to discuss this when he is still in the high throes of cheating.
"There's nothing to discuss Derrick, we are over." I stated firmly in a cold voice.
I don't know what game he is playing, I have to be cautious, something feels wrong.
"If you won't come in I won't sign it." He smirked folding his arms.
I squared my eyes at him before resigning to fate.
I'll just get this signed then get the hell of here.
"Fine." I said pushing him out of the way, heading to the sofa and sitting down.
My whole mind was telling me to run away but I know I couldn't back down now, I have to sign this papers and know I'm done with this man once and for all.
Derrick shut the door calmly making me frown again, this man is never calm, what is he plotting?
I shifted uncontrollably on my seat feeling uncomfortable, I should have told someone when I was heading here.
"So the divorce, sign the papers." I cleared my throat pushing the papers towards him, he took it and barely gave it a glance before tossing it aside on the couch.
"Eli, are you sure you want to leave me?" Derrick asked in a dangerously low voice.
"You don't get to ask that, don't forget you are the one who cheated, not to talk of the fact you had no regard for me at all during our time together, this divorce was coming from a mile away, don't complain."
I said sternly throwing away whatever feeling of discomfort I had.
"Derrick are you- Oh." Mira descended the stairs pausing her words when she saw me.
She was dressed scantily and even from where I was sitting I could see the glaring red marks on her neck.
"Sign it." I demanded, I did not want to waste another second here in this place.
"Darling, serve our guest some juice or water." Derrick told Mira, clearly ignoring my words, while she nodded in response, heading to the kitchen.
"Derrick, I clearly stated I'm here so you could put your damn signature on the divorce papers, can you do so now and stop with all these bullshit."
This is starting to get on my nerves.
"You fought your parents for me and did everything in your power to make me happy while we were dating, even cutting off that nerdy boy of yours I refuse to believe you'll divorce me." Derrick argued cocking his head at me with a triumphant smile on his lips.
Oh for the love of God.
"Had I known you were such an asshole I doubt I would have done all that or dated you in the first place, the divorce is your fault so kindly let me go and be with your mistre-"
"No no, Eli you're missing the point." Derrick cut me off, standing from his seat as he moved closer to me.
"The divorce isn't my fault but yours, doctors said you're infertile, we tried for a child for 3 years we couldn't get one, but only one night with Mira got me the child I wanted."
"Don't you want me, the love of your life, to see his children run around him? Why can't you just give it up, move back home, we'll raise the child together, Mira doesn't mind it."
He spoke softly moving closer to my side, I was about to say something when Mira entered placing the tray with the juice on the central table.
I glanced at her wondering why she isn't saying anything? She cheated with him, doesn't she want to keep this man? Why is he insisting on not divorcing me?
"Child or not Derrick you cheated, I'll never forgive that." I said with a strong resolve in my eyes.
I would not let myself be deceived by this man again.
"Fine then, I'll sign it, just drink the juice." He gave up surprisingly making me glance at the juice then him at an interval.
"Don't believe me?" He sighed gesturing at Mira to bring him the documents he tossed aside, then he picked out a pen.
"See, first part signed." My eyes widened as I instantly grabbed the cup placing it on my lips as I watched him sign the other parts.
Good, with that I dropped the cup and snatched the papers, "I'll take my leave now."
I turned around to go when Mira blocked my way all of a sudden making me frown.
"What's all this?" I asked feeling frustrated.
"I'm no fool Eli, I know you did not drink that." Derick said making me curse underneath my breath.
"I ate on the way here, I really don't have the stomach for that right now." I forced a smile turning around to see Derrick holding the glass while twirling it around.
"You don't have to stomach it, we can force it to go down." Before I could react to his words, Derrick grabbed my wrist and pulled my towards him, the papers falling from my arms in the process.
"Let me go." I struggled to free myself, the remaining of my words muffled as he held my chin forcing my mouth open and pouring the juice in.
I refused to swallow holding a defiant gaze, I will not be brought down like this.
"Trying to be stubborn now, are we?" He laughed mockingly before holding my nose, I couldn't breathe.
I tried my best to hold on, tears stinging the corner of my eyes as I stared at him wondering why he was being like this all off a sudden.
"Be a good girl and swallow and I will let you have all the oxygen you need." Watching the devilish look on his face, I was left with no other choice but to swallow, then he left my nose making me gasp for air greedily.
"See? Everything can be settled amicably." He said with a satisfied grin while I glanced at him weakly, grabbing my papers from the floor in silence.
I didn't have time to retort, I need to get out of here before he does something out of the box again.
When I was done I rushed to the door, surprised that he just watched me with a smile, why was he insisting I drink the juice then.
All puzzles pieced together the moment I tried to open the door and a wave of dizziness hit me causing me to stumble and hold my head.
"Oh it's already working." I heard Derrick's excited voice and soon heavy footsteps.
My vision blurred as I felt my whole body weaken, just as I was about to fall to the ground, Derrick held my waist and caught me.
"What did you do to me?" I questioned weakly before finally losing consciousness.
