Chapter 7 Lucky Charm
DERRICK'S POV
"This is bad." Mother exclaimed, sinking into the chair, while I sighed.
I had just broken the news of me being fired to her.
Mira is upstairs resting, I haven't told her yet, it's best if she doesn't find out, I don't want her to worry and end up affecting the baby.
"I told you, we shouldn't have brought Mira home." I voiced out, if my mother hadn't insisted I would have just kept Mira out and take care of our child while Elisa stayed here.
"Why would I watch while my grandchild is out there by himself, no way, I don't care if this is the outcome but I won't change my decision."
Seeing the way she argued strongly I sighed.
"What do we do mom? The shaman said that Elisa is a good luck charm and as long as we have her in this house, things would work out for us, but it's been barely 2 days since she left, and I already lost my job." I lamented with worry.
We had no savings, if I can't find a job within the next 3 weeks we're doomed.
"Your answer is in your own words, just find a way to get Elisa back here, seduce her If you have to, lie if you have to, all this is her fault anyways, if she could have a child there would have been no need for you to look outside."
Mother has a point, even if one of the reasons I am with Mira is because of her relationship with Damon Thorne, she's way better than Elisa, and could cook pretty well compared to my so called wife.
Now, she's pregnant of course my favour scale would lean towards her, not someone who only brought luck to the table.
"Is this my fault?" I turned to see Mira standing at the edge of the stairs, staring at me with those beady eyes of hers.
"Mira." I called out shooting up from my seat and walking over to her side.
"What are you doing here?" I asked gently, while leading her to have her seat.
"I couldn't sleep and wanted to come find you, it's my fault that your wife left you, I should leave." She sobbed standing up but I sat her back down.
"You should worry about yourself Mira, you are with my child there's no way I'm letting you leave, I'll deal with it, okay?" I cooed patting her hair gently.
"Can't you speak to your cousin?" Mother sneered all of a sudden making Mira flinch a bit.
I immediately shielded her behind me and gave mother a warning glance.
"Her cousin is currently abroad, he did not release his number to anyone for reasons best known to him, Mira can't help even if she wants to."
"I'm sorry mother, I wish I could do more, but even my parents threw me out since I got pregnant out of wedlock." Hearing her words, Mother's eyes softened a bit.
"It's alright then, go upstairs, Derrick and I will take care of everything, don't worry yourself."
"The baby keeps disturbing, I can't sleep, he probably wants his father to talk him to sleep." Mira sniffled rubbing her belly lightly.
The fact my son was growing in there made my heart swell with pride, "okay then, we will continue this conversation tomorrow mother, I'll go with Mira." I announced, picking her up as we both exited.
I laid Mira on the bed gently before laying next to her, patting her stomach gently.
"I'm sorry about your wife, If I knew about the luck stuff I would have never told you about my pregnancy."
My hand stopped It's movement and I stared at Mira, "If you had done that I would have never forgiven you, Elisa would come back, she loves me too much to go through the divorce anyway, if she does come back I'll make her accept you and the baby no matter what."
"But what if she doesn't?" Mira asked making a glint flash my eyes.
"The shaman said she needs to be with us for the luck to work out, she never said under what conditions, if she refuses I would just lock her up, you matter to me Mira, and If I have to commit a felon to keep you and my child by my side, I don't mind it."
As I finished my words, Mira hugged my waist tightly, "I'm scared." She confessed, a slight tremble on her body.
I smiled while hugging her back, "I'll protect you no matter what." I assured her while she looked up at me with those glassy eyes of hers.
I stared back, the three months mark has passed so there's no need for me to hesitate, with that said I lowered my head and planted a kiss on Mira's lips, a kiss she returned with equal enthusiasm.
Smiling, I slipped my hand into her clothes pressing her breast, "I think the pregnancy is making your breast a bit fuller." I commented making her flush.
We engaged ourselves in a kiss again and from then on the rest was History.
Mira is just so good, who knows I might end up not discarding her even after getting what I want.
I stared at Mira laying on my chest, sleeping peacefully, a satisfied smile on my face, only if Elisa was this obedient.
THE NEXT DAY.
I woke up groggily, wearing my pajamas shorts almost cursing, the door bell has been ringing continuously, who could it be?
"Who's that?" Mira questioned with sleepiness, "Don't worry I'll respond to it."
I headed down the stairs muttering curses underneath my breath, "I'm coming!" I yelled out angrily, but the human who was outside didn't even stop for a second.
The moment I got to the door, I swung it open with anger, "What?" I hissed angrily only to see Elisa.
Hah! What a bitch, after all that big talk, she's already back, I raised my chin up with a smug look on my face but before I could say a word, she waved papers in my face.
"The divorce papers." She said sending dread to my heart, what? She is definitely joking.
"Let's go in and discuss this." I proposed trying to be calm but she just smiled.
"There's nothing to discuss Derrick, we are over." Elisa said coldly, glancing at my body.
She probably saw the hickeys Mira left, I should have worn a shirt.
"If you won't come in, I won't sign it." I snorted angrily, since she won't come back amicably time for plan B, I'll make her stay here forcefully, I need her damn luck.
