The hurricane raged on with bursts of thunder and flashes of lightning. The television had lost its connection, and I noticed Beanie curled up tightly on the couch, looking terrified and uneasy. Seeing her like that brought back memories of my childhood. I used to watch other kids being cared for by their parents while I lay sick in bed, crying alone and feeling like the world had abandoned me.
