Chapter 12 Watchdog
"Good morning." Jose greeted as soon as Abigail walked out of her room. "You had a good night's rest?" He asked.
"Good night rest?" Abigail asked as she walked to the kitchen. "Not sure I did." She replied, yawning, still feeling sleepy.
She shouldn't be up this early as there was nothing to do in the house after all other than watching TV and video calling Scarlett, but that might just stir up suspicions from Jose, who had no idea she went out last night and met with whom she shouldn't have met.
Abigail carried the jug of water as she walked out of the kitchen, meeting with Jose again, who stood as though he was waiting for her. "What's up?" She asked, taking a look at his dress; he was heading somewhere. "Where you off to?" She questioned.
"Running a message for Mr. Rizzo," Jose answered.
"Could have told me yesterday you know, I'd have loved to tag along than being in here like a freaking furniture," Abigail said.
"There's a party tonight, Mrs. Ursula Knight's party remember? So it won't be advisable to stress you. Besides I won't be coming early." Jose informed.
"And I'd be left with just the two bodyguards in the boys' quarter?" Abigail asked, tilting her head as she watched Jose nod to her question. "Damn, I'm used to living with you already; how could you leave me alone with those huge-looking strangers?"
"Well, they are the real people who should have come with you to New York; I'm just here temporarily, so you better start getting used to not seeing me around always," Jose affirmed.
"So you're tryna say you've got your shit to do too aside been a watchdog of Mr. Rizzo?" She inquired.
"Yeah, and I need to go spy on other people's asses for Mr. Rizzo," Jose replied sarcastically as he turned to go.
Abigail scoffed, unbothered by Jose's sudden annoyance. Isn't he a watchdog who's on his boss's leash? And what's up with that suit of his that looked like a million-dollar piece?
She surely knows luxury when she sees one, and Jose's suit, with no doubt, speaks luxury.
She entered her room, dropping the water on the bedside table, at least spending the rest of her day sleeping isn't bad, it'll be easier to pass time that way and thanks to the amount of liquor she had the other night, it still needed her to sleep more, otherwise she would be planning on snaking out again.
Abigail lay on the bed, tossing around until she finally drove off to sleep.
The serenity of the environment even made her sleep peacefully, the plan on making her live here probably to hide her away from Blake whenever he's curious about her must have been planned carefully 'cause right here seemed like a quiet neighborhood that had been bought by Rizzo or maybe only his people occupied the apartment in the neighborhood.
Hours went by, and Abigail finally woke up; glancing at the time, and yes, she had slept an extra seven hours, and now it was 4'50 pm. She had a few hours to go join the rich wealthy party hosted by Ursula; right now, she was famished.
Abigail got up from the bed, had her bath, and changed into a pair of trousers with a T-shirt and a hat.
She took her phone, glancing at it as she walked out of the bedroom, seeing three missed voice calls and missed video calls from Scarlett.
"Oops!" Abigail pouted. She should have called her sister before going into such a deep sleep.
Abigail walked out of the house, and the huge-looking bodyguard, as she had described them, turned their gaze to her.
"Hey, how are you two?" She strode towards them. "Will you be driving or I'm gonna order an Uber? I need to buy what to eat since I suck at cooking." She told them.
"Jose wouldn't let you go if he were here. I'd go buy what you want." The first bodyguard mentioned.
"Jose? You mean you didn't know Jose permitted me to get whatever I wanted for the party?" She asked watching the two men glance at each other with a confused expression on what she meant.
"Jose clearly told me, hey Abigail get whatever you need. Shopping, pedicures, and manicures as far as it's gonna make me look pretty tonight. And you don't wanna tell me you had no idea I'd be attending a party tonight?" Abigail asked, her face freed of guilt or the obviousness that she was lying about getting such orders from Jose.
"Yeah we knew about the party---"
"Still you wanna get me starved?" She interrupted. "If I faint because of starvation. You two are to blame, you know that, right?" She asked as she turned, pretending that she was about to leave when they called her back.
"Let me get the car." One of them said and he walked away to the garage.
"I'm fine with just him as the escort," Abigail said as she walked away with a triumphant smile.

Abigail walked into the restaurant. The hat she wore helped cover her face in case she met with Blake Knight, who might claim again the restaurant was part of what he owned.
"I'd get your order." The waitress said with a small smile which Abigail returned. Just then her phone rang again from her pocket.
"Hey, I'm sorry I wanted to call you, it skipped my mind," Abigail said in a hurry before Scarlett could begin to scold her.
"Jesus girl! I was worried!" Scarlett yelled.
"I'm pretty sure you're working don't scare your customers." Abigail reminded, and she could hear Scarlett breathe out.
"How are you? Why didn't you pick up my calls?" Scarlett asked after calming her worried self.
"A long complicated story. Anyways, I snuck out last night and stayed out late to drink; that's why I've been sleeping and woke up an hour ago." Abigail stated.
"Damn Abby... Did uhm what's your bodyguard name? Did he know about it?"
"Snuck Scarlett... One of my multiple talents." Abigail replied, taking the paper bag from the waitress who had already packaged her meal as she walked out of the restaurant.
"Oh my God, Abby. What if something happened to you? Stop being so irresponsible babe." Scarlett scolded.
"Yeah, I heard you ma'am, and I promise not to be irresponsible." She answered almost sounding sarcastic.
"You're crazy..." Scarlett said and they both chuckled.
They talked for a while until Abigail got back to the house before they finally had to hang up with Scarlett, being grateful for having such a long-length conversation with Abigail, the only family she had.
Abigail ate to her satisfaction and watched some TV shows before retiring to her bedroom to dress for the party night while still wondering why Jose wasn't back. He didn't even specify where he was going, and she didn't even have his phone number.
Abigail finished dressing as she glanced at her reflection in the mirror. She couldn't see her length-dressed reflection, but she was sure she was dressed beautifully for the night; Blake Knight might even be willing to make out with her right in the presence of his wife.
