Deep in the middle of the night, she paced through the hidden tunnels underneath the hospital, the only noises her boots thudding off the stone, her breath sighing up in tight, measured puffs. The normal faint whir of the air ducts was silenced now, overwhelmed by the adrenaline still pumping through her system. Her wolf half shifted, ever restless. It urged her out. It always had, particularly at times such as these when the air was heavy with danger, and every ounce of her being cried out to battle. Tonight, however, wasn't any ordinary battle. Tonight, something much more sinister was brewing on the horizon.
