Chapter 5
After consuming my sweet time, I finally went to see Nathaniel with my wobbly legs and a strange flicker in my heart.
The sensation I was incapable of controlling in his presence which never failed to control my mind in his rhythm.
"Don't let a man stray you, woman. Control yourself." I muttered.
Reaching at his hideout, I had to maintain the façade I had created.
Holding up my head high in pride for being the significant other of the leader of Mafia.
I entered and saw none other than Amanda, his P.A, sitting on the armrest on Nathaniel's chair, her hand around his shoulder and it pricked me.
Smirking at me while I was fuming with the urge to cease her breaths right here and now as he was lost in his phone, unaware of the fact I was right in front of him.
Narrowing my eyes, I cleared my throat to get their attention.
"I would appreciate it if you get away from him, Amanda." I said coldly, almost furiously.
Gritting my teeth to bear this sight where another woman was openly flirting with him.
"Why? Boss doesn't-"
Her hand proceeded to his neck but he removed it and cut her off dominantly.
"Leave. All of you." Nathaniel ordered, putting his phone down.
Finally meeting my unnerving orbs with his stern ones with an atrocious smirk.
"Yes, Boss." She frowned and left with everyone, leaving us alone in his office.
"Is that why you called me here? To see another woman seducing you?"
My voice came out poised with rage but it only acted as a source of amusement for him.
"Did it pinch you, Doll because I wanted it to." He asked, leaning back, putting his one leg over the other, toying with my emotions.
"What would you do if I did the same with another man?"
My voice demanded answers but all of it was nothing but a fucking jest in his case.
"Simple," He smirked, darkly.
Making his way to me, lifting my chin with his index finger to meet his nightmarish gaze.
"I would kill the guy." He whispered seductively in my ears.
I shivered as he plied my breath with his superiority, to make sure it moved in his harmony.
Shivering up by his reply, I looked away but he smirked wider, forcing me to maintain eye contact.
"Dear, don't try to break eye contact with me again."
He warned, closing the distance between us.
"I love to see this flush in your eyes." He whispered.
securing his arm around my waist, my heart rate enhanced when my gems were inclined with his.
"And if you are talking about Amanda, that paltry woman shouldn't bother you." He hummed, implanting a kiss on my neck.
"No one can take your place. You are my choice." He whispered, constricting my breaths with his action as I pressed my palm over his chest to impede our proximity.
"I-I understand. G-Get away.."
Stuttering, my very soul put effort into forging a frontage to refrain myself from losing in his charm but to no avail.
"If it was you, you would probably be in my laps and lost in the depth of pleasure."
With a husky laugh, he intoxicated me.
"Probably moaning my name too."
He sucked the spot he kissed, hand probing my skin as his possession and even after denial resisting his touch was not in capabilities.
"D-Don't."
Moaning slightly, I tried to part away from him to not melt into the swaying power.
"Ah, you and your reactions."
Chuckling huskily, he finally let go of me as I moved back instantly, hugging my sides with heated cheeks and a burning body under the temptation of his touch.
"Is t-that why you called me here?" I asked, trying to sound composed but couldn't.
"If you want to, I don't mind taking you right on this table." He smirked, folding his arms.
"I told you, I need time." I mumbled, turning my head away for a second to control my thumping heartbeats.
"Relax. I told you, I wanted to know you." He shrugged, moving back to his seat.
"You have known me for years."
Him and I went to the same high school, after that incident of Valencia's death, Nathaniel came here and I have known him since then.
"My memories are vague, I don't remember complimenting your eyes ever." He whispered seriously but it meant much more than that.
He loved my eyes but now they mean nothing.
"Because you never did." I lied, my heart hurt saying this but it was better if we won't bring the past into this.
"I still don't know what your favorite color is." He shrugged, leaning back.
"Blue." I replied coldly, taking a seat, rolling my eyes from him. In his sinister aura.
It was extremely hard to put up an affection of nothingness because he knew he could turn it to dust in a matter of a heartbeat.
"We haven't been on our honeymoon either- Ah well, what's the point of it when I can't even enjoy it?" He sighed, faking sadness, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"What do you mean?" I asked, narrowing my eyes in suspicion.
"I can't fuck you, did you forget? You said it yourself." He said, resting his elbow, indulging in my timorous reactions with utter amusement.
"I thought we were here to get to know each other." I said, stealing a glance, turning my head away.
"Yeah.. It took you a while to come. I was actually waiting for you." He hummed.
"You said to come after being done." I replied, trying to sound arduous.
"But you didn't come straight to my office." His smirk grew wider.
"You didn't clarify after work." I corrected my sentence, leaning back.
"Yeah, my bad." He nodded, getting up again.
"Well, do you want a gelato?" He offered, smiling faintly.
"Sure." I smiled in return, not knowing whether I should trust his smile or not.
"Cool, come." He called, offering me his hand.
Taking it hesitantly, a gasp escaped my lips when he pulled me closer, placing his hand on my waist.
"What? I don't always touch to tease you." He smirked darkly at my reaction, scanning me with a hint of allure.
The warmth of his hand froze my body, tightening my vocal cord.
I was hesitant about leaving with him but things went quite well thanks to the lack of conversation I had with him which gave me time to register my breaths.
"Which one?" He asked.
"Tiramisu." I replied.
He got me a tiramisu and himself a pistachio flavored gelato.
Things seemed nonchalant from outside but from inside, I could feel my heartbeats sewed to an affliction engraved in my soul.
Rendering me unable to cope with his tenderness because I knew his devious mind could be anything but gentle.
"What are you thinking?" He asked, noticing my dazed state.
"Father is returning tomorrow with Alessandra." I told him quietly, waiting for his reaction but he showed none, as if he didn't care- he didn't.
"Ah, great, we can finally return now." He sighed after a prolonged period, I tried to register his words but couldn't.
"What do you mean?" I asked, perplexed by his words.
"I know you are attached to Alessandra, I wanted you to meet her before leaving because your Father doesn't care as he didn't even bother to attend our marriage."
He sneered, stating the heartbreaking fact I was trying to ignore. Father had some work so he took Alessandra and left me right before the wedding.
"Because he knows-" I tried to defend my Father but he hissed,
"He knows what? That this marriage won't last long?"
My breath hitched when his voice raised in fury. Giving me a grave stare to bear the fatality but noticing my distress he calmed down with a sigh.
"Doll, why don't you understand you are here for longer than you can perceive? Both you and your Father are idiots for believing it's brief." He breathed out, calming down after noticing my startle by his statement.
"Because you are simply using me." My voice came out like a vague whisper.
Lowering my eyes in dejection, facing me the bitter reality of losing him even when I have him.
"That's why," He whispered, lifting my chin, forcing me to meet his eyes.
Holding a strange glisten I have never seen before in his eyes, almost a devotion he had never emerged.
"Don't say this again. I want you to meet your childhood friend before leaving and bid her goodbye properly." He said, tone once again received into sweetness, coated with a thick layer of fakeness one couldn't find.
Nathaniel was a mysterious man and it was not in my grasp to unveil his dark side, showing the devilish nature concealed in his jade.
"Thank you." I mocked, yanking his hand back, turning my head away. He sighed and moved back.
"I will go along with you." He said- demanded after a while we had eaten and started our drive again.
"Go where?" I asked, narrowing my eyes.
"To pick your Father." He replied, starting the car.
"You don't have to."
"And as long as you are mine, I don't want him anywhere near you." He hissed.
"Why?" I asked, not liking his hatred for my Father.
"Because, he is-" He paused, "He is a man I resent."
"And you are married to me, I am your priority now. You might be living with him all this time but at this moment, I exist. Not him. Do I make myself clear?" He growled.
glaring indirectly at me to follow his words unless I wanted to compete with his dominance.
"I.. understand." I breathed out, nibbling on my bottom lip, having no other choice but to agree with his words.
"Good." He finally returned his usual smirk of pride of holding power over me.
Leaving me at his doorsteps and I have no other choice but to comply with his words if I don't want to lose the track of my true path- even if it means losing him.
"How was your day?" He asked, when we reached home.
"Fine. Yours?" I hummed.
"Usual." He mumbled as we got out and I didn't know why but he loved forging intimacy among us as he held my hand when he came inside.
"Um, Nathaniel." I called him tentatively when we reached home.
"Yeah?"
"How was I supposed to work from New York City?" I asked, leaning on the wall while he opened his waistcoat and hung it.
He returned me a jeering smile, closing his arms at his chest.
"My, of course then he can't clean up the mess in your absence. And all that you are good at is killing."
He taunted, opening his shirt, opening his hairs and running his hand in them, amplifying his tempting body by his mere gestures which made my heart race.
"Whatever you call it, I can't sit back. I am cut out to be a housewife, I need work." I reasoned.
"Work or bloodlust? Can't you spend two days without killing someone?" He mocked.
"I don't want to hear this from the Plague Doctor." I retorted.
"Okay then. Why don't you guys switch places? You expand the business to New York and take control from them and leave all of this shit to your old man?" He suggested.
Shrugging his shoulders, taking off his shirt, revealing his glorious body, walking up to me, wallowing in my crimson shade adorning my cheeks.
"It's a great idea, don't you think?" He snickered.
Putting his one hand across my face, imprisoning me in the cage of his eyes and I can't abstain from this deadly potion of attraction.
"Will you let me work?" I asked innocently, looking up at him.
"Of course I will. You will turn insane if you stay at home... having such a monotonous life. Normal is for humans, not puppets."
He chuckled darkly, scorning at the state my Father left me where I was used to staining my hand in blood with no glint of remorse.
"I see." I whispered.
Walking away, going to the wardrobe, taking out my casual clothes to take a shower and ease up my muscles.
And focus entirely on the path ahead and not vex about trivial matters anymore.
