Chapter 1

Eleanor's Point Of View… A smile blossomed on my lips as I exited the pack's clinic. It felt surreal. The doctor's words echoed in my mind, confirming that I was truly pregnant. I glanced at the report multiple times, pressing my lips together to hold back the excited screams bubbling inside me. “The Alpha has instructed you not to enter, Your Highness,” a guard at the entrance announced, his deep, firm voice causing my smile to vanish in an instant. “What do you mean? Why would Killian give such an instruction? Why can't I see him in his chamber?” My brow furrowed in perplexity as I inquired. I knew Killian never gave me affection during our two years of marriage, but I had no idea he'd try to keep me out of lengths by ordering his guards to me from seeing him whenever I wanted. “You need to seek his permission before you can see him..” The firm voice of the guard struck through my heart, causing me to widen my eyes at his reveal. “This is insane! I'm his Luna.. Why should I seek permission to see my own husband?!” My voice shook with a slight undertone of rage, my confused eyes flicking at each of their faces. I wanted to share this piece of good news to him - The report about my pregnancy. Why are they stopping me from seeing him? “It's the new rule, your highness. I'm sorry. Alpha Killian has asked that you avoid his chamber for the rest of the day." “Nonsense! You're spilling nonsense!” With gritted teeth, I yelled at the guard who had spoken, my fists clenching along. Not wanting to accept, I tried to take a step forward but he stayed at my front, shaking his head slightly. “You're defiling the Alpha's orders if you attempt to disobey us, your highness..” “I do not give a damn about that!” Cussing, I wrenched my hand free of his clutches and trotted on. He skirted past me and stood in front of the door, barring my exit. “Leave!” I screamed, my furious gaze lingering on the guard for another moment before I made my way past him. Stifling a gasp, I paused my movement when I heard faint feminine chortles and giggles emanating from Killian's chamber. My breath hitched and my heart thrummed with erratic rhythm as I walked towards the door with slow deliberate steps. ‘No. This can't be real. Killian can't be cheating on me right? He- he can't bring another woman into his chamber..’ Shaking my head, I mumbled, my voice coming out in a trembling whisper. Despite how real everything appeared, I struggled not to accept or believe it. “I’ve always known you were meant for me. My heart can’t express how much I love you,” I heard Killian’s voice clearly, and it pierced my heart like a dagger. He wasn’t speaking those words to me but to someone else in his chamber. A shiver of anguish ran through me as I covered my mouth with my hands, stifling my sobs. Swallowing the lump in my throat, I forced my way into his chamber, where I found Killian smiling as he buttoned his shirt. His smile faded abruptly when he saw me. The woman with him rolled her eyes upon noticing my presence. She sighed and rested her back against the headboard, the light from her phone illuminating her soft jaws, big doe eyes, and swollen lips. “Why would you instruct the guards not to let me in, Killian?! I am your Luna.” I said to him and shifted my gaze at the lady who was less concerned about my presence. “Who- who's this, Killian? Is this why you asked me to avoid your chamber today? Because you wanted to spend some time with her?!” With tears stinging my eyes, I voiced out in pain, gritting my teeth along. Killian sank his fingers into his hair and exhaled deeply before turning to face me. "I'm delighted you finally met her. She won't just be spending a little time with me. She'll also be living here with me because I plan on making her my Luna.” Killian disclosed, his words dropping like a bombshell, causing my eyes to grow wide. “You and I both know that we are in an arranged marriage and have never loved each other. You got married to me simply because my father approved of you, Eleanor. I have never loved you!!!!” Killian added, his words crawled on my heart, hitting like physical blows. There wasn't a tinge of concern or remorse in his expression. His eyes were cold, indifferent. My heart skipped a beat as the weight of the moment sank in. “But we're mates, Killian. We're mates despite the fact that we had an arranged marriage!” I whispered, my voice barely audible. A wave of emotions washed over me and tears threatened to spill from my eyes. “My mate bond with you was a grievous mistake and mismatch from the Moon goddess. I've only been keeping you because of my father. You're not my type, and you'll never win my heart no matter what you do. Not just that, you are barren, "You can't even conceive, consider yourself fortunate that I’ve put up with you for the last two years. You’re utterly useless to me. I’m finished with you, and I’m ready to reject our mate bond and end everything,” he declared. His cruel words struck me like a knife, confirming my deepest fears. My entire body trembled as anguished sobs erupted from within me, and the dam holding back my tears finally broke. He could say anything he wanted, but calling me barren was a line he shouldn’t cross. My knees buckled and I dropped to the ground, shuddering with each sobs. Through my tear-filled vision, I saw her cover her phone with her hands and direct a mocking glance toward me. It dawned on me that she was Taylor, the daughter of Alpha Zain from the White Moon pack. She was renowned for her successful fashion brand and her incredible design talent. I had no idea she was the one Killian had been interested in all along. “Killian,” I whispered, my voice quivering as I met his icy gaze, filled with disdain. “We.. We can still make things work between us. You can't end it this way.” My voice became thick with emotions and I caught a glimpse of Taylor sneering at me. Ignoring her, I shifted my gaze back at Killian and continued, “We can still give our bond a Chance. I'm preg–” “Get out, Eleanor! I am less interested in hearing you out. Nothing can ever work between us. Don't you understand?! I'll be severing all ties with you in front of the pack members. I can't continue keeping a barren and a wolf-less omega as a mate.” My tears dropped on the report in my hand as I straightened it with my fingers. The hopes and dreams I had nurtured with him suddenly shattered, leaving me feeling lost and betrayed. With tears blurring my vision, I looked up at Killian and countered, “I'm not barr–” “Didn't you hear me?! I have no interest in listening to you. And also, I want you to know this. Taylor is two weeks pregnant for me. I'm making her my Luna and you should stop trying to make things work between us.!” Stating that final word, Killian stormed out of the room angrily, banging the door behind him.. His words pierced my heart, still echoing in my ears. He was right; our marriage was nothing but an arrangement. I only agreed to be with him because he was my mate and the unwavering love I had for him. I thought that spending those two years with him would make things better for both of us and I might probably show him what love really is - I thought he'd end up loving me the way I loved him but no.. He left me for some else.. I've always been a downplay for him because I'm not a high ranking wolf. I'm just an omega.. or so they thought. I felt the aches in my chest again. Little wonder I've been experiencing pains for the previous three weeks. I suspected he was cheating on me since he was my mate, but I refused to believe it. “Oh.. poor Aurora. Or what's that your name again? Oh. Eleanor..” Taylor corrected as she slowly got off the bed and wore her braziers. She flipped her hair to one side of her neck, purposefully showing Killian's mark on the opposite side of it. I didn't know he had already marked her.. A soft smile tugged at her lips when she noticed how grievous I was, not an ounce of sympathy on her face. My chest tightened as I grabbed the fabric of my dress. I literally couldn't breathe, choking on my own sobs. “You look so pale and ugly when you cry, ttch! Save those tears. Killian doesn't care about you so it's best you let go!” She taunted, wearing her pants before grabbing her belt to tie around her waist. “I'm going to be his Luna because I'm pregnant with his pup. There's no way he's ever gonna work things out with you. First, he doesn't love you like you do to him and second, you're barren. No Alpha wants a barren lady as his Luna,” She bantered and chortled after wearing her top. Smoothening her messy hair with her fingers, she grabbed her phone which laid carelessly on the bed. I remained in my position, the sound of my choked sobs echoing in the room. The air felt thick and suffocating, with just my rapid gasps breaking the solitude. She approached me and squatted in front of me before grasping my chin. A wicked smile tugged her lips as she stared into my amber eyes with scorn. “Get lost!” She spat before pushing me aggressively to the ground. When she got on her feet, she sighted the report and she grabbed it swiftly. Her eyes widened as she read the content.. “You bitch! You're pregnant!!!!” Her breath came out in short bursts and she crumpled the paper in her hand with so much rage. “Leave! You musn't inform Killian about this preg nancy or else I'll kill you!!!” She threatened, giving me a venomous glare before striking me with her boot.
