Chapter 5 An Arranged Marriage
Ethan stood up with a pale face and spoke calmly.
Once Ethan finished speaking, Clement hurried to the bedside and reached out to check Jeremy's pulse.
"A miracle! This is truly a miracle!!" Clement exclaimed.
"D*mn! This can't be happening!" Anatoly exclaimed in disbelief, eager to approach and check Jeremy's pulse himself to verify the truth.
But before he could reach the bed, Ethan appeared in front of him, grabbed him by the arm, and yanked him out of the operating room.
Bang!
Ethan threw Anatoly forcefully once they were outside the operating room.
Anatoly slammed into the opposite wall and slid down, spitting blood.
Ethan followed with a harsh kick to Anatoly's chest.
"B*stard. What do you want?" Anatoly cursed, infuriated.
Ethan sneered coldly and replied, "You injured Mr. Hugh's meridian. Today, I'll return the favor—double the damage. I'll hurt two of yours."
"H-how did you know?"
Fear flickered across Anatoly's face as he heard Ethan's words. He thought his actions were flawless, but he had clearly underestimated Ethan's awareness.
Ah!
Before he could say more, Ethan applied pressure, sending waves of intense, searing pain throughout Anatoly's body.
Unable to withstand the agony, Anatoly collapsed unconscious.
"Ethan, let us handle him," Liam said, stepping forward with a look of relief on his face.
Without Ethan's intervention, Jeremy would have surely passed away today.
Jeremy's death would have been a significant loss to Hendreville.
"Alright." Ethan heard Liam and didn't take any further action against Anatoly. He had already made his point.
"Come with me. I need to talk to you," Liam said to Ethan, signaling for his subordinates to take Anatoly away.
Ethan frowned, following Liam out of the room, wondering if Liam was about to ask him to return to serve the country or something similar.
Right now, Ethan's primary focus was avenging his family.
Now that he had regained his freedom, he had little interest in anything else.
As Ethan and Liam walked out of the hospital, inside the ward, Clement suddenly exclaimed, "I remember! I remember!" His voice filled with excitement as he examined Jeremy's condition, startling everyone nearby.
"Dr. Kurt, what did you remember?" a nurse asked, clearly puzzled.
"He used the long-lost Classic Nine Needle Technique. My goodness, I can't believe I witnessed it in my lifetime. No wonder he criticized my skills—he was absolutely right!" Clement said, his voice becoming more erratic with excitement as he hurried toward the door.
"Dr. Kurt, where are you going?"
"I'm going to ask him to become my mentor!" Clement called out with determination.
What?
Everyone in the room stood frozen in disbelief.
Clement, one of Hendreville's foremost medical authorities, was now rushing to find a young man to become his mentor. If word of this got out, it would send shockwaves through the entire medical community.
Clement rushed out, but of course, he didn't find Ethan anywhere.
Ethan stood next to Shelly's off-road vehicle at that moment.
"Pretty lady, are you the driver again? I feel guilty. How about we go get a room so I can repay you?"
"Get in the car," Shelly coldly said with few words.
Ethan chuckled and, following Liam, climbed into the car. Shelly snorted and started the engine.
"Mr. Quinn, do you have something to say to me?" Ethan asked, noticing Liam's serious expression, his playful demeanor fading.
Liam didn't respond. Instead, he took out a wooden box from beside him and handed it to Ethan.
"What's this?" Ethan shook the box and said, "It's not some kind of important document, is it? Mr. Quinn, I don't plan on returning to Wolfshade."
He then handed the box back to Liam.
Liam didn't take it back. He said calmly, "Your parents had a safe deposit box overseas. Through connections, I managed to retrieve this. Inside is a marriage contract, an engagement arranged by your parents. I suspect they wanted you to fulfill it, so I'm giving this to you."
Ethan paused for a moment. "Such a cliché. An arranged marriage." He then scratched his nose and chuckled. "But I'm not interested."
Ethan handed the box back to Liam. "I'm a lone old man now. Plus, I haven't avenged my parents yet, so I don't want to ruin another woman."
Ethan felt that the marriage his parents had arranged must have involved a family of some standing. Now, with nothing to his name, going to them with the intention of marriage would only invite ridicule.
"Ethan, although I've given you your freedom, I can't restore your identity. There are a lot of people watching, and if you go out, you'll need to disguise your identity. I think completing this marriage would be a good cover." Liam patted Ethan's shoulder. "Also, I want someone to keep an eye on you, so you don't cause any more trouble. If something like what happened a few years ago happens again, I might not be able to protect you."
