Her feelings in a turmoil, Layla went about her work that day in a daze, but luckily, she wasn't expected to do very much except make the lunchtime sandwiches and cook the evening meal. The crew made a special occasion of the weekend roast, putting on clean clothes and smartening themselves up. Layla supposed she had better do the same and put on the sundress that Alfred had given her. Her skin had turned to a pale gold, and luckily, her eyelashes were naturally dark in contrast to her fair hair, so that she had no need to apply any makeup, although tonight, some blusher would have enhanced her pale cheeks.
