RYDER I slammed on the brakes, bringing my truck to a sudden stop in front of the entrance gate to the protected area. Scattered within the dense forest were several old wooden cabins. Liliana sat in the passenger seat, looking tense, her hands clenched into fists on her lap. I turned to her sharply.
