Chapter 6 A Decision

3RD POV: TWO MONTHS LATER. After Iris's one night stand and being dumped publicly and humiliated, by noon, she had already purchased a ticket going back to her home in Kemela, and she broke down into tears as soon as she saw her parents at the airport waiting for her with opened arms stretched out to embrace her and welcome their only child back. They had been her comfort and support system as she dealt with the heartbreak and they had been doing everything to cheer her up and she had been dealing with it perfectly. They were good even the bad days but for the past week, she had been feeling strange. “Girl, I brought everything you might need.” Her best friend since they were kids, Mariana, arrived at home early this morning as requested by Iris. “Why did you bring this?” Iris questioned in irritation and fear, seeing a pregnancy test amongst other things like chocolate and stomach medicines. “Baby girl, you described to me in full detail how that gigolo had sex with you like you two had known each other for years. And though I understand you were using contraceptive pills, which YOU had stated you hadn't used in months before you two had sex, and he wasn't also using a condom. I have reasons to believe his seed or seeds might have swam and procreated or however the biology of kids comes about.” Mariana explained and Iris's heart raced and pounded loudly, seeing as Mariana might be right. “You're right….O Lord…but please don't be right.” Iris coughed out slowly and Mariana packed up her black hair in a ponytail and shrugged. “You know whatever the outcome is going to be, I will step up and be the father to your kids. They would never have to know their father is a gigolo.” Mariana joked as she had found it amusing that her ‘innocent’ best friend had slept with a gigolo. Iris looked at her with a side eye, looking for something near to throw at her and Mariana laughed. “Go on. We all got you and would support you no matter what the outcome will be. Hopefully it's just food poisoning from all those burgers we ate yesterday.” Mariana smiled at her but she had a feeling it wasn't that. Iria entered the bathroom with two pregnancy tests and with tears forming in her eyes. “Ohhh, that's why they say Good sex is dangerous.” She joked at herself as she peed on the stick. “Set the timer.” She yelled to Mariana as she washed her hand and she yelled back, “Yes, baby.” What if I am truly pregnant? Would I keep the baby? What if there is a sickness running in this man's family and my kid gets it and dies after I decided to keep the child? Oh…I would be so heartbroken. God….I hate Gabriel so much, this is partially his fault. What are my parents going to say? Would they support me yet again? I couldn't even get to travel around the world because I let a man dictate my life and tie me down. Why did I have to be so careless? What am I going to do with my life if I'm not pregnant? Ouu…but I would make a good mother, and I know that for sure. What—- “Time's up! I'm coming in.” Mariana interrupted her thoughts and barged into the bathroom. “What does it say?” She inquired and Iris shrugged, “I haven't checked. Help me check.” She nervously played my hands by my side and watched as Mariana's face lit up with a smile after checking the two. “What does it say and quit smiling like a creep?” Iris chuckled nervously and tears formed in her playful, unserious, blunt best friend's eyes. “Stop playing around, May, and tell me what it says. Am I pregnant?” Iris tapped her feet impatiently calling Mariana by her nickname. Mariana nodded repeatedly and a single tear rolled down the two best friend's cheeks, “Don't play around, I really am?” Iris's voice cracked. Mariana handed her the two POSITIVE pregnancy tests and embraced her warmly and sadly. “Whatever you decide to do, you know we all are going to support you. I know this is not the right time but girl…if you had just taken me with you to that Simia, none of this would be happening.” Mariana spoke playfully and in the midst of her tears, Iris cracked out a chuckle. “So right now, I'm left with a choice to either keep the child or abort….aren't I?” Iris thought out loud, wiping her tears as they broke the hug apart. “Yes, baby girl. And I will come with you down any of those two routes.” She took a pause after assuring, “So what do you want to do because you have to be more than six weeks along?” What do I want to do? What do I want to do? The question rang in Iris's head, over and over again.. Abort…
