Chapter 7 Moment Of Truth

Allison I walked into my dorm room, fresh from a shower. My roommate was nowhere to be found, probably out with her boyfriend. I decided to settle in for a quiet evening, watching movies on my laptop. Just as I was getting engrossed in the film, there was a knock at the door. I checked the peephole and was surprised to see Jayden standing there. I opened the door, and Jayden flashed a charming smile. "Happy New Year, Allison," he said. "We haven't seen each other since we came back to Boston. I actually missed you a lot, you know?" I rolled my eyes. Does he actually know how hard I've been trying to ignore him? "What do you want, Jayden?" Jayden walked in without waiting for an invitation. "Aren't you going to let me in?" he joked, making himself at home. He headed to the fridge, grabbed a soda, and started drinking. I shook my head and returned to my bed, laying down, continuing to watch my movie. Jayden asked, "So, about what I offered... are you going to be my sex partner?" I looked at him, incredulous. "Are you really crazy or what, Jayden? Please, can you stop it already? Besides, it's stupid since we're somewhat related. And you're still dating Yvonne." "I'll break up with her," Jayden smirked. "Oh please," I laughed. "I saw you both making out in the empty computer room after class today." Jayden chuckled and looked at me, his eyes gleaming with amusement. I turned away, and he said, "Are you jealous?" I looked back at him, laughing. "Jealous? Why would I be jealous? Am I insane? I'm not interested in whatever you do." Jayden started coming closer to me, and I shifted away from him, uneasy. "What are you doing?" He climbed on top of me, his face inches from mine. I swallowed hard and said, "Jayden, I think you're being too–" He whispered against my ear, "Remember that day at the hospital and the barn?" "About the barn stuff, it was just you giving me a teaser and I still didn't even accept your lame offer, duh," I hissed angrily. "And also, I thought we promised not to bring that hospital day up. I thought it was something we were supposed to forget. We never spoke about it that day. We acted like it never happened." Jayden's expression turned intense. "How can I forget that day? It was the most memorable day of my life. I can't forget it. So, what do you say? Should we do it again?" There was an uncomfortable silence. Then, Jayden snapped his fingers, calling out to me, "Hello? Alli?" I looked away, and Jayden asked again, "So, what do you say?" I hesitated before responding, "Can you leave me alone? I'll think about it." Jayden's eyes locked onto mine, his gaze piercing. "I don't think I'll ever come back here or ask you about this matter ever again, but I'll still wait for a positive response." As soon as he left, I let out a deep sigh. To be honest, I couldn't shake off the memories of that night at the hospital. It still lingered in my mind, and sometimes, I felt my body react to the mere thought of it. Just as I was lost in my thoughts, my hands began to touch myself again, but then, the door opened, and I quickly snapped out of my daze, jumping up instantly. It was my sister Sally. It was the first time seeing her since we returned back to Boston College. "Hi," she communicated through sign language, her eyes sparkling. You see, she was born with a condition that left her mute, unable to utter a single word. But despite her inability to speak, her ears were perfectly fine. Over the years, she had learned to communicate with us through sign language, and it had become second nature to us. "Can't you knock?" I frowned. She simply smiled and signed that Mom was coming to see me concerning something important. She had something to say to us both. I rolled my eyes, and she sat beside me. Something had been weighing on my mind, and I decided to tell her now that I'd had the chance. I let out a deep sigh, then looked at Sally and signed, "Hey, are you going to drop out of the cheerleading team?" Sally raised an eyebrow and signed, "Why?" I explained, "The cheerleading leader, Yvonne, and her friends were saying that you can't be a cheerleader because you can't cheer. You can't talk. They keep talking shit about you and… ugh!" "I'll handle it myself. As long as I can do other things besides using my mouth, I'll be fine," she signed with a determined expression on her face. "Then can you stop for me?" I signed, looking exhausted. "I'm tired of Yvonne and her friends always bullying me because of you." Sally's expression turned determined. "Don't worry, I'll face them myself. I don't have to stop cheerleading because of them." I shook my head, feeling a surge of anger. "Do whatever you want. I hate you so much, Sally!" I yelled. Sally looked taken aback. "Goodness! You've been acting weird towards me. Why do you hate me so much?" she signed. I glared at her. "Isn't it obvious? When I was in the hospital, you never came to visit me. You came once, and that was only because I woke up that day. But I never saw you again." Sally swallowed hard, looking guilty. "I can explain... it's a long story. I've been busy." I scoffed, my anger boiling over. "Oh please, I don't want to hear it. You keep saying you've been busy, but what have you been busy with exactly? You're just a student like me, and you couldn't even take the time to see your sister when she was sick." "I actually visited you one time, but it seemed we were busy," Sally signed. "Busy?" I said, angrily, signing at the same time. "What was I busy with? You've started with your lame excuse again. For real? Busy? Me? When?" She glared at me. "You were busy with our stepbrother that night in the hospital. I knocked and knocked, but you couldn't respond. So I went to the back of the window, and I saw you both. You were having sex." My eyes widened. "What…what are you talking about?" I whispered. Sally signed again, "I saw you both having sex." "You… You didn't see anything," I stuttered. Sally brought out her phone and played a video, showing me the evidence. "See? You both are having sex, you and our stepbrother. I recorded it. What if Mom and Dad hear about this?" I quickly grabbed Sally's hands, pushing them down to stop her from signing. "Keep quiet, okay?" I whispered urgently. "Mom and Dad will not hear anything if you keep quiet about it." Just then, our mom appeared at the door, a confused expression on her face. "Mom and Dad must not hear about what? What are you both talking about?" Sally rushed towards her immediately and signed. "It's about Allison and Jayden."
